18 y/o Dajerria Becton from McKinney, Texas will receive 148,850 from the city after a white police officer TACKLED her to the ground which outraged the community after it went viral!!

It happened 3 years ago when she was at a pool party in a bikini as video of the incident was released showing the cop forcing her to the ground.

It sparked protests about police treatment of young black people in America as many were horrified showing Officer Eric Casebolt who bolted Dajerria to the ground and dug his knee to her back..it also showed him waving his GUN to the teens who tried to intervene as Becton was begging someone to call her mother.

Her legal guardian, Shashona Becton sued him and the city for 5 million in damages of mental anguish, loss of quality of life and attorney fees.

All claims against him and the city will be dismissed under this settlement as their attorneys will receive 184,850 and Dajerria will get 148,850. 6 other people at the party will also get $6000. The money will come from the city's self-insurance risk pool

A statement was released by the City and Police who regretted the incident and thanked the community for it's "inclusiveness, order and unity"

Her lawsuit was based on the fact that his actions were excessive where the video showed Dajerria leaving the party and Casebolt went after her with his baton and suddenly SLAMS HER to the GROUND and grabbed her by her braids and slammed her face into the grass and then pinned her with his knee as she cried out in pain.

He resigned from the department 4 days after the incident as a grand jury declined to press charges against him in 2017

Dajerria says she's now looking to the future as she enrolled in community college this fall and is using some of the money to start her own business as she dreams of becoming a dentist

She's also been invited to local activists to her graduation party to raise money for scholarships for teens.

Do you think there's bias favourtism for police who commit a crime?.

Not a matter of crimes but, as an officer of the law, their word is generally better than the general public's especially given the nature of the job. However, there are certainly cops who get away (or try to get away) with crimes by pressing phony charges to cover their ass knowing that people are more likely to believe a cop charging somebody with a crime than the suspect who is claiming to have been set up. That's not what the majority of these settlements are about, though; all of these involve allegations of excessive force while in the course of their normal duties.
