358/2 Days should NEVER be played before KH2 the first time. It contains major spoilers for that game. I think they should have re-arranged the order the games are listed in the KH1.5+2.5 bundle.

Might be interesting if you've played the games before, but it definitely also shouldn't be done for a first time player. There are parts of 358/2 that spoil the endgame of KH2. And I'd say it's better thematically to see the rest of Org13 introduced in KH2 as the "first" time.

Also, why would you want to wait even longer to get to the good parts of KH2? It already takes too long as it is.

Considering I couldn't beat Cloud/Squall together I feel like I am not where I ideally need to be.

I get to level 100 naturally just 100%ing the game, which basically means trying to complete the synthesis moogle stuff.

But it's also an action game so it won't save you from being sucky

Please explain. This is said all the time but I've played them all to death and I don't see it.

It spoils maybe the first three hours of the KH2, and imo makes the narrative far stronger than how contextless it is with just 2.

I'll give you this that it's awkward for them to be hooded in KH2 after you know them, but damn it SO doesn't matter; they are not characters in KH2, just bosses.

I would say you should be around 50-55 for the Hades cup, 60ish for Ice Titan, Phantom, and Kurt Zisa, and 70ish for Sephiroth and Mysterious Figure.

This is just general of course. It's entirely possible to beat them before that.

Organization XIII should be seen as nothing more than villains.

If you pick staff at the beginning you don't get Second Chance or whatever until level 90

Which can be a problem for the optional bosses if you're not that good at the game.

I recall just going through the final 10 rounds of Hades Cup (or furthest you are at) over and over. Also doing the challenge modes for Hades Cup on top of it helps as you get the ultimate weapons for Goofy and Donald that way

spell hotkeys should be cure, blizzard and fire. Get good at menuing for stop and thunder. (Since thunder hits whenever they are close you don't have to worry about aiming at the same time)

Every other time you break phathom he shoots something at you, While he does that I just hug one of the walls of the other sides and just that time to reapply stop on the clock.

If you follow that pattern its honestly pretty trivial. You might need an elixir or two but thats whatever

Use the clock tower to kite him at least that's how I recall messing him up. Diamond Dust from Gold Match (I think that's where it comes from) helps as well with the extra MP but you should be fine without that

Also yes, I definitely seem to have chosen staff at the start of the game. I honestly at the time didn't really think it affected much so I didn't look up what the choices did. I also wasn't expecting the game to be as challenging as it is.

In vanilla picking the staff was the best imo for the extra MP.

I don't really like having no Second Chance for endgame though.

Ditching the staff seems logical since Magic isn't that great in this game, but I really miss having MP Haste and Rage.

Yeah seph requires leveling for stats as much as it requires being able to survive his patterns.

IIRC with Sephiroth there was some timing you could do with Descend Heartless Angel with an Elixir to essentially tank it fairly harmlessly... provided you have enough for the fight and aren't confident about interrupting it. But it's been a really long time since I played KH1. And if Final Mix changed it maybe it doesn't work anymore.

Sephiroth is actually not that hard attack pattern wise, it's mostly that he's incredibly punishing if you mess up.

First impressions of sephiroth can seem incredibly daunting but it does actually become pretty easy if you can just learn when to block and when to hit him.

Yea once you memorize his moves it's just about executing it. I found a pretty reliable method for myself with baiting him into using Firaga Wall, dodging rolling out and using Sliding Dash just at the right time as his move is ending to swoop in for easy attacks. Of course that's only part of the fight but it makes the beginning half that much more simple.

but Dark Souls is clunky and highly overrated. Feel like when I play the game all I'm doing is fighting bad, mostly unresponsive controls.

Honestly I really enjoy CoM but it takes some digging in

I love customization and optimization so I'll probably enjoy frantically updating these decks, tbh.

Teenage me kinda sucked at the second half of CoM, so I never finished it. I bought 1.5 awhile back, but haven't started replaying it yet.

Also im not sure how scripted the Traverse Town drops were but i got Simba really quick and he basically one-shot all the trash packs up to the bosses.

Magic annihalates the early game in CoM if you can get three of the same kind.

I really enjoy the boss fights and the Castle Oblivion sections of the story in CoM, but the Disney world stories and mob fights are pretty boring, especially if you're playing this remake version right after KH1 since the environments will look the same as what you just saw.

I still haven't played Re:CoM, but always figured it would be way worse in 3D than on the GBA.

I guess I'll find out soon enough though. Although probably not until next week.
