let's say there's a deal on tues, where for the same price, you can switch to boneless wings and get double the amount. ie, would you rather have 7 boneless wings or 14 boneless wings for the same price? would it have to be, say 21 (3x) for you to take the deal?

Boneless wings are glorified chicken nuggets but if you give me 25% more of them I'll still take them over bone-in most of the time just because I'm cheap and american, I dont have high standards

sometimes I'm just hankering for real wings and boneless will not cut it tho

I've never understood paying for the bone-in since you can't eat the bone. I'm paying for a food item with a part I can't consume. That makes no sense.

The food items in question actually have purpose. Peels protect the bannana and sticks allow you to better consume the product. Bone? It what? Holds the meat? Boneless wings prove it unnecessary.

What's more messed up, you quite often receive less meat with bone-in. And when it's the same price as boneless with more meat...why would you not go boneless?

Boneless all day! But I will say eating bone in isn't that much of a pain in the ass.

Pick the cartilage off.
Twist and pull the smaller bone out.
Eat the meat off the remaining bone in one bite.
Easy and tasty!

Its a pointless elitist argument.

In my experiences most places cant do a really good bone in wing. Seriously like people think just deep frying a chicken wing and throwing a mediocre sauce on it is all you have to do. But A LOT of places can put out a bomb ass boneless wing, and Im gonna go where the quality is.

No, it was started in a local restaurant in Buffalo, NY.

But there is a clear difference in flavor between bone and boneless. Bone being a superior flavor. Boneless completely lacks skin. Though I don't mind boneless, there is a difference.

I'm not going to argue a subjective opinion.

But knowing how it started is an interesting note.

But also, given that it was once sold dirt cheap and is now much higher in price screams profit margins for bad product to me.

Yup...pizza hut and Domino's do this with their bone-in. Hell, Domino's only bakes their bone-in. They don't fry them.

Boneless on the other hand, different story. (Well, for PH. Domino's pre-cooks and rebakes in oven)

Boneless wings are fine, but good bone-in wings are amazing.

Whether I would buy boneless wings if they were cheaper depends on the quality of the wings. If the wings aren't that great anyway (I'm looking at you Wild Wings), then I don't care all that much. But there are some places where if it's not bone-in, I won't even bother.

There is a difference. Wings tend to be tighter clumps of meat (dark or white). Tenders are longer cuts of meat (usually from the breast of a chicken).

Who the fuck says there isnt a difference in taste?

this aint the argument at all.

They are definitely not the same thing taste wise but the expierence of eating a small piece of deep fried chicken slathered in delicious sauce...its pretty much the same thing.

I mean its like the difference between sweet potato and regular fries. You can have a preference or like them equally. But its really the same damn experience in the end. And super silly to argue about.

I mean they're different cuts off the chicken. They taste different. Yes, if you season meat it tends to taste like the seasoning regardless of the cut. But the flavor is still there. Some people care about that difference. What a bizarre thing to argue about.

And there are plenty of people who are saying there is no difference besides the bone. Maybe if you opened your eyes and read through the topic instead of faking outage over chicken wings, of all things, you'd realize that.

The quality of the place Im getting them from is a bigger determinant factor tbh. If its a place where the wings arent that good, Im going with boneless; mediocre bone-in wings are awful - they somehow manage to be soggy & dry at the same time - whereas boneless wings dont have that much range when it comes to quality, meaning theyre a lot harder to fuck up.

Quality bone-in wings >>>>> any boneless wing though
