Current Events > Buying enhanced ports of games is a waste of time...right?

I'm talking about ports of games from the previous generation, and they've had a certain amount of extra content put in.

If you own the original, it's pointless?

That depends entirely on the game in question, how much has been added, and how much you even like the game (if you've even played it in the first place).

Neh. Even just an HD update is worth it to me if I want to play it again.

it depends on whats been enhanced

chrono trigger DS isnt worth getting because the bonus dungeons are boring and bad
the only cool thing was marle's weapon that always does 777 damage

where as the enhanced port of ff6 for the DS adds a bunch of new espers and boss fights that are actually fun so it is worth getting.

the enhanced port of star ocean 2 added a brand new party member and actually altered the battle system to let you slash 3 times instead of just 1 with your weapon (the mages still can only swing with their weapon once)

so this actually changes the gameplay a bit making it worth it

Has anyone noticed the upcoming Switch port of Captain Toad? I really enjoyed the original, but I don't know how much new content this has. I've had someone say it has "extra levels", but this could be a little new stuff, or a lot. Does anyone know?

90% if the time total waste unless you no longer own the previous console/game. In some cases much worse in the Dkc ports for the gba

most of my games become "enhanced" by upping the resolution or turning on an extra graphics setting or two........

I think it's somewhat of a waste. Would never pay full price for a game twice.

cause i made a typo and said DS port when it was really a GBA port

the GBA port offers all this new stuff but it also makes the colors look weird to work on the GBA as well as lowers the sound quality (both of these can be fixed if you know how though)

I might buy it if the game interests me and usually I don't have the original.

Ah, not as good. I still feel like I should of played every version of FF6

you could just play the phone or steam version. it has all the new things the GBA version added as well as a new sprite design that is ugly as sin (though some people like it)
