what's so fun about staring at a television screen watching other people play sports which you have totally no control over but scream like a fanatic when they score goals and stuff?

isn't it more fun to stare at a television screen where YOU get to interact and make the decisions? Where YOU get to control what happens on the screen? Where YOU get to actually experience the action yourself?

Video games should be more popular than sports. SMH. Instead gamers are shunned offensively as 'nerds' by the general populace.

who gives a fuck? if you enjoy video games then play video games. people enjoying sports doesn't hurt your video games. this is why people don't take gamers seriously...

Different people like different things. I know a lot of people as they get older just aren't entertained by video games.

There is also the fact that people admire other people that do things that they cannot do. Your average person has no chance in being good enough to be in the NBA no matter how much they train because the best players are athletic freaks of nature, but some people look at professional video game players like anyone could do that if they're a big enough nerd and put in enough time.

As wrong as that may be that's definitely a factor

Because watching something is passive effortless entertainment. Video games take work especially if you want to be good at them.

Drunken Street Fighter, Soul Calibur and DotA have been pretty fun for me, but I do agree.

Also sports are a lot less esoteric than video games so it attracts a bigger audience.
