So a shill means someone is paid to be a fanboy then what is the opposite of being a shill? Because if you can clearly be paid to promote something as a consumer then you can also just as easily be paid to defame a product.

The real meaning of shill is that the 'shill' is ignoring logical points and reasonings and discounting them with no good reason. So they're no different than someone intentionally trying to manipulate public perception of the thing. That's why you end up with the (2 cents deposited into your bank account) meme

I always find Shills to be the ones that do over the top product placement or go out of their way to recommend a service/product.
