This year has a lot of good songs, and I feel bad that some of them don't make it into the points range. Also, this year has an interlude act that I like just as much (if not more) as the actual entries.

Without further ado, here are my brief opinions on the songs. I'll use the current-day score system of 1-8 and 10 and 12, but also a separate 1-5 rating, since a winner's trophy doesn't mean the song's good. It only means it's the best of the bunch. Moreover, the song's actual standing is enclosed with brackets.

Dominique Walter Chez nous
[France]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHGhcmVDYcc" data-time="

This hollow, inept, and lousy misrepresentation of a song reeks of incompetence, and Dominique's vacant stare and oddly rounded lips suggests of a tragic mental condition. I sought the recoreded version, and it was just as unremarkable and generic as the stage peformance.

Madeleine Pascal Ne vois-tu pas?
[Switzerland]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n40_VHZoPBY" data-time="

It's only a little better than France's joke of an entry in that instead of being abysmally bad, it's plain boring.

[10/18]
Margot Eskens Die Zeiger der Uhr
[Germany]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v34kZImvabM" data-time="

The composition is nice, but it seems like the orchestra can't breathe life into it. Margot's composed singing and higher notes highlight this shortcoming further. It's a pity, since this song could've been a lot better if the orchestra was in it with more than a half of a heart.

Udo Jrgens Merci, Chrie
[Austria]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=frtCOHgMvc8" data-time="

Udo's third appearance deliers a good but surpriseless exxperience... and therein lies the problem. Merci, Chrie is essentially a rehash of his 1964 and 1965 entries, and not only has the song's formula become stale and underwhelming, it feels like it was performed out of duty rather than a passion.

[3rd/18]
se Kleveland Intet er nytt under solen
[Norway]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hS1-YJtovaI" data-time="

Quite a depressing ballad to those who pay attention to (and understand) the lyrics. The brief but powerful orchestral segment presents an unneeded and conflictful contrast to the song's otherwise gentle but melancholic ambiance.

[15/18]
Milly Scott Fernando en Filippo
[Netherlands]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVHqkE5Qx18" data-time="

The nonsensical intro verse is likely to garner a few laughs, though it also sets the mood for this light and catchy tune. The music seems a touch lackadaisical, but Milly's energetic conduct prevents the song from flatlining.

[17/18]
Tereza Kesovija Bien plus fort
[Monaco]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfsMknxN5GA" data-time="

A great voice and a strong performance along with a good melody makes for a moderatly memorable song, though I'm guessing its shortness is to conceal its lack of variety.

[14th/18]
Ulla Pia Stop mens legen er go'
[Denmark]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wc6V8s9X6kg" data-time="

An extremely lively, cheerful, and catchy song that could've gone for another full minute without becoming repetitive. The song's also a little sad, but for different reasons; Denmark literally took the advice of the title and left the contest. They would not return until over a decade later, in 1978.

Madalena Iglsias Ele e ela
[Portugal]

A fun and uplifting song that far susrpasses Portugal's dreary wailer of the year prior.

Michle Torr Ce soir je t'attendais
[Luxemburg]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXLGzNyb1j0" data-time="

Has an engaging beat and melody. Pretty good singing, too. Risks of becoming repetitive, but the song ends before it becomes too apparent. The intro by the wind instruments (trumpets?) and then their continued presence in the background adds a faint early 70's sound. Might just be me, though.

[4th/18]
Tonia Un peu de poivre, un peu de sel
[Belgium]
Although I don't think this is a that special as memorability goes, it is remarkable and likable for bubbling with childlike positivity without being syrupy and condescending.

[7th/18]
Berta Ambro Brez besed
[Yugoslavia]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5BLw8baVl0" data-time="

Yugoslavia steps away from its established cornerstone of somber crooners with this empowering and multifaceted serenade. The segue from the soft verses to the powerful refrains and back is sharp but admirably proficient.

[2nd/18]
Lill Lindfors & Svante Thuresson Nygammal vals
[Sweden]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3HRr9G9c_s" data-time="

While Lill and Svante share appreciable and charming on-stage rapport, this is merely a nice but ordinary jazzy duettfor those who don't understand Swedish. For those that do will be entrtained by a folk tale told in contemporary (and hilarious) slang.

Kenneth McKellar A Man Without Love
[United Kingom]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfKk0uEGsPA" data-time="

Typically, I am not a fan of old-fashoned operatic-like songs, but A Man Without Love radiates with such a great sense of dramatic magnificence and emotion, that I can't help but become speechless in fascination.

[17th/18]
Domenico Modugno Dio, come ti amo
[Italy]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UReor05rPsI" data-time="

Domenico truly looks and sounds like he's on the verge of breaking into tears as he valiantly carries on singingand that's not a hyperbole. A subtle yet discernible tremble is in his voice, and his behavior barely hides his grief.

[4th/18]
Dickie Rock Come Back to Stay
[Ireland]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRBnF58ykIQ" data-time="

Lyrics too emotional for the sensitive to sing in karaoke and a strong melody and performance makes up for a somewhat humdrum arrangement and a so-so ending.

[10th/18]
Ann Christine Playboy
[Finland]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qib45U2DxPc" data-time="

Incredibly whistelable melody, and a surprisingly contemporary and original pop song (for Finnish standards) with clever and funny lyrics that, unfortunately for most listeners, are in Finnish. But the gist is that Ann-Christine is rebuking the approaches of a playboy. "You're a playboy, a slick playboy, a confident playboy, but into your net I won't fall", "many wealthy ladies, many rich princes, you decieve gladly, 007 is allegedly attributed to your name, but the seven I'll disregard."

[7th/18]
Raphael Yo soy aqul
[Spain]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNcKBhggQ-I" data-time="

This is a song that would not be remembered positivelyif it were not for Raphael singing it. His vocals are almost unbelievably phenomenal, and he comes extremely close to attaining that perfect and coveted medium where a voice is immensely powerful without being shouty.

Darn, forgot to add the link to Belgium's song. Also, doing so exceeds the post's size limit.
So, um, here it is!
