they're children/manchildren that are obsessed with memes and are incapable of making their own jokes so they just spam jokes they see on the internet.

It's like when the internet joked that Danny Devito should be the voice of Pikachu in Detective Pikachu, but then they slowly started becoming actually serious about it.

And honestly, it's kind of pissing me off, because Sakurai actually put in Ridley due to America's obsession with getting him in, and I'm hoping nobody's mentioned to him this whole Waluigi meme of him being in Smash. Not so much out of fear that he'll actually do it, but moreso just embarrassment for my country if he found out.

I always pick him in the Party/Sports games whenever possible, even before the memes. Always liked him.

Personally I'd really like to see him featured meaningfully outside of collab/party games. Put him in warioware or... something.

Right now the best we have is his minor villain role in DDR Mario mix. Which... COULD lead to a fun movepool, I guess.

Yup. Ridley actually has inherent moveset potential too.

Waluigi you gotta dig deeper and none of it would really come from inherent abilities. Would basically just be having items from Mario spinoffs or drawing from the memes.

Goku makes more sense than waluigi as he has more inherent abilities to draw from and despite originating in anime has been a main or major character in dozens of games on Nintendo hardware.

Waluigi has basically just been a random extra character in spinoffs his whole existence and has no inherent special abilities. He doesnt even have any great novelty or history to him outside of memes. Game and Watch was from Nintendos first handheld line and was like Mario in his does everything kinda nature for example. Waluigi has nothing but memes.

I think Brawl in the family is what really pushed the meme.

K. Rool actually has a really big following both here and in Japan. Even if he didn't I would want him because I liked him in Donkey Kong Country and think he'd make a fun character.

K. Rool actually has a really big following both here and in Japan. Even if he didn't I would want him because I liked him in Donkey Kong Country and think he'd make a fun character.

Plus, he has a huge assortment of potential moves and 4 different costumes.

Though I admit I've warmed to Waluigi being playable. Imagine a character that plays like an ungainly fusion of Wario and Luigi who throws random sports equipment around, awkwardly stumbling around cackling like an idiot, because he can't believe he's actually, finally made it. Then a fat psychic child beats him senseless with a baseball bat. He knows contentment at last.

There are enough people who always picked Waluigi in party/kart/sports games who want a character of him. He's sort of a blank slate move set wise, so you can string together a bunch of interesting things like how they made Wario function.

I think it would be silly if it was a small roster, but when you look at the list and see all of the clones and one-off characters, why they wouldn't include Waluigi is beyond me.

This. Most people are making a big stink of it just for shits and giggles. The only real upset ones are the Mario nerds butt-hurt of Daisy getting in beforehand. Which is really stupid when you think about it because at least she's been in an actual Mario game.
