The first 2 times were incredible failures. Just awful. Hopefully the third time will go better with lessons learned but the odds of success are low. Anyway I'll be using this topic to blogFAQs. So if you ever wondered what it looks like to be a no-name youtuber you're in luck!

Downloading OBS now. Luckily I still have a YT account that's pretty much all setup and shouldn't be too fucked by YT's algorithm, which is nice since getting the account set up is a pain. I need to get some new channel art but that's not too bad. Hopefully I'll be ready to start streaming by tonight, but we'll see.

Alright, got OBS downloaded and got some new channel art. I forgot what a pain it is to get decent channel art if you have zero design experience/ability like me.

Now the next challenge is to get some decent video editing software. I used to use sony vegas pro, but it sucked for someone like me who had no idea what I was doing. Plus it was slow, and would often crash when exporting a video (though that was probably user error).

I'd like to use Camtasia since it's really easy to use but its too expensive for me at this point. I'm going to try shotcut which is open source and see how it goes, just from a quick glance it kind of looks like Camtasia so fingers crossed.

Alright, starting to learn shotcut and while it's not super intuitive after a few tutorial videos I'm starting to get the hang of it and liking it more than sony vegas pro, so that's really great!

I've made 2 videos so far, the first was really rough but I'm going to keep it and upload it anyway as sort of a milestone. Hopefully I'll be able to look back on it and see how far I've come.

Next step is getting some good thumbnails. My thumbnails before were bad, like really bad. I've done a lot of research and looking through thumbnails and I think I've got a much better idea on what I need to do. The problem is graphic design is not my strong suit - so the plan is to keep it simple but eye catching which admittedly is easier said than done.

Overall things are going well so far, but the real challenge will be maintaining the discipline to keep grinding out videos when I won't be getting a lot of traction when it comes to views/subs. Hopefully between streaming and videos I'll be able to reach out to some people and start building an audience. If I could even get like 10 subs I'd be really, really happy.

Thank you! I hope so. I feel like I've learned a lot from my previous 2 attempts, but it's really hard to say. Honestly, it seems like the biggest factor is luck. Plenty of great youtubers out there who never really break it big - though they hustle enough to get by so it's not all bad :)

So I didn't get to make any videos today due to having a bunch of errands I needed to take care. I did, however, learn of a youtube alternative site called D.Tube. While the site is still really niche, it appears to be growing and since there is no reason why I can't upload to both youtube and D.tube I plan on doing both. Hopefully, that will increase my reach and I'll be able to build an audience a little bit faster.
