it's a stand alone movie with a different actor and will do it's own thing. so it might actually be ok.

I guess apparently he has a solo movie coming too. but this is the one to be hyped for I think. the Leto one will probably suck

that was a cartoon. this is live action. also I don't really remember Joker's origin in that. this is based on a comic called The Killing Joke, which they also recently animated. it shows one possible version of Joker's origin. it was never canon in the comic though. but it's a cool story

the origin story in The Killing Joke is just one theory and DC never has said "this. this is how it happened"

also Joker himself doesn't even remember and he said that when it comes to his origin, he prefers "multiple choice". he doesn't know either

Joker is more interesting without an origin. In fact, maybe there's an exception somewhere, but has it ever been a good idea to introduce an origin/explanation for something that didn't already have one?

Interestingly, origin stories are actually the *most* interesting. Less interesting, but still potentially interesting are post-origin stories (part 2). But among the least interesting seem to be post-hoc origin stories. For whatever reason, the feeling of "filling in the story gaps" is actually not all that satisfying and always ends up feeling strongly artificial. Doesn't seem to have that problem when told chronologically, though, so maybe it's related to our natural expectation of things becoming more complex and understanded over time, and not in reverse.
