Planning to put a new hard drive in my PS4, going with internal so the old drive can upgrade my PS3. Seeing as I know shit about buying hard drives (my current PS3 drive was pulled from a dead laptop left at a thrift store), I'm checking here to see if anyone can chime in on if this one is suitable or if I should be looking at a different drive.

There was this one that indicates compatibility with the system, but it was only half the size. Might buy it for the PS3 later anyway and just get an enclosure or two for the smaller hard drives. 1TB would be useful with over 400 digital games for the PS3. :P

Compatibility shouldn't be a issue as long as it's the correct dimensions and speed. Might need to format it once installed to the ps4 but that's it. I would look to see if you can put in faster ones.

Probably better off asking the PS4 board.

Posted in the hard drive sticky, but not sure how often people check it.

Yeah, that one will work in a PS4. The hard drive is really easy to swap out as well.

This is the one I put in mine:

Thanks. I looked at that one as well, but a couple of people in a Steam chat I frequent said that Seagate should be avoided if WD was an option.

WD is the better brand, sure, but I find many people put too much stock into that. I've probably bought a dozen or so hard drives, half WD, half not, and have had no issues regardless of brand.

I guess worth noting that I have a WD external drive that I've had for about 10 years and it has survived like 6 moves. So the quality is definitely there.

They got stung during a bad point for Seagate, so I can understand it

if you don't have plus, remember to pull your saves off before replacing it
