I see it's on sale for the days of play thing, but is it really worth it at this time or is it just kind of a gimmick?

I feel like I'd only play Skyrim and Doom on it tbqh.

I'm pretty sure PSVR is dying tbqh. I'd hold out for it to get clearance super cheap later like the kinect. Skyrim VR and Doom VR are not worth a 250 dollar cost of entry.

Never trust PlayStation accessories.

Sony has a long history of releasing overpriced accessories, releasing a handfull of games that use them, then dropping support completely. If they're still making games for it in a year or two, then maybe consider it.

Switch had BOTW, Odyssey, and seems to be getting more content this year.

PSVR has ports of games we've already played and a bunch of gimmicky shit and seemed to be a footnote at E3 this year.

If it's gonna be a big part of PS5, it will be there when PS5 comes out. Probably in a better form.

If you're literally questioning to buy it, don't buy it. It's not worth it if you even have to question it.

I said this in another board, and though I know its unrealistic, psvr would have to be $100 for me to get one. Thats just all that its worth to me.

The problem with VR as evidenced by this topic is there's no way to show just how cool it really is until you've actually tried it. I bought it blind for ~$275 at the beginning of the year (skyrim bundle with move controllers and camera) and I think it was definitely worth it.

Here's what I have that supports VR so far:

Farpoint
Doom VFR
The Inpatient
Until Dawn: Rush of Blood
Skyrim VR
Rise of the Tomb Raider
Moss
Resident Evil 7
Paranormal Activity: The Lost Soul
Wipeout Omega Collection

Some upcoming stuff that was announced at E3/recently include Prey VR modes, Astro Bot, Transference, Blood & Truth, Bow to Blood, Firewall Zero Hour

There is plenty of non-gimmicky stuff out there where VR adds meaningful immersion to the game--Resident Evil 7 and Doom VFR sold me on whether full games can be made in VR without major concessions to visuals or controls.

people bought the switch at launch when its only game was also on the previous console. and just like your argument against PSVR, it has ports and gimmick games. "Seems to be getting more content" is the same argument you can make for PSVR.

So your own statement can be used against you, let's just change the price around.
