Curious if I should use one. I have a free trial offer from PCTools.

well the temp file cleaner might be useful with my ssd. its only 500gb so space is limited and i like to keep it clean.

Might I suggest using BleachBit

Free and open source alternative to CCleaner that hasn't had the drama of including malware in one of their previous releases (also CCleaner kinda went to shit after Avast bought them out)

it should go without saying, but you're better off just not using one if you don't know what you're doing

CC Cleaner causes more damage than it helps. I wouldn't use registry cleaners at all.

If you're concerned about something in the registry, then use a Windows Refresh.

get ccleaner, careful with the install and read all the options since it bundles with bloaware youhave to manually uncheck the box to not install it
most of the options are pretty self explanatory but in the event you don't want to wie history
don't check to delete any cookies or history in the browsers or site preferences saved passwords saved form information
have fun and don't use any settings unless you're 100% sure what they do
else you could do something dumb like delete your wifi settings and have to put in the password all over again
