Aside from the racism (which, to be fair, was a similar problem in many places to some extent), everything was just better. The economy was fair because the neocons hadn't ruined it yet, the culture was more homogenized for the most part, and there weren't any infrastructure problems.

It was a simpler time.

There were no Muslims, the Hispanics worked on farms that weren't yet butting up against the edges of suburbia, the Afro-Americans were still mostly subjugated, and there were no homosexuals (only pedophiles). A family could live off of a single income because the wife's job was to sit at home and clean and cook.

btw I do not mean that to be racist against any of those groups but I do think it's kind of absurd. I'm a white guy, so yeah 1950s America probably would have been awesome as hell, but for anyone else it was probably pretty shitty.

Everything would have been cheaper then and more relaxing laws like smoking and such. Of course this was also the time when everyone was paranoid about nukes being dropped in America so they were building bunkers and such.

I think the nuke scare really picked up more in the 60s and 70s...

That's what's hilarious about Trump.

Like I got my issues with America just like I do my own country. But relatively speaking America and Canada are objectively p fucking great.

So how is some some guy who openly says America ain't great the hero for these nationalistic fucks?

Is it cause they miss acceptably open racism?

Nuclear weapons were nowhere near as widespread as they were after the 60s, though.

Also lol I got moderated because the mods don't understand satire and think I was legitimately demeaning minority groups even though I specified that that was the complete opposite point.

Really, angry white male conservatives just want to go back to an era where they were in charge of everything, no questions asked

1950s were hot and humid and people couldn't afford air conditioning.

Also smelled terrible because everyone was sweating.

Things weren't readily available and information was hard to come by, so nobody knew how to do basic household things the correct way, such as framing a wall or wiring something.

Part of the reason it was great, though, is because of the economic BOOM and America wasn't involved in any major wars besides the Korean one (thank you Donald). Most 1950s houses are very well built because of the time carpenters were able to work on them.

Music and cars (aka culture) were pretty cool and changing.

The average person knew what is was like to respect their elders and "go without", so society was fairly peaceful and children were pretty respectful. A woman's husband generally made enough money where she could spend her life doing what she wanted, which (because of the culture) usually resulted in well-kept houses and respectful children.

HOWEVER.
There were a few gross towns in the southern USA where black people were treated like shit, so that ruined an entire era.

The rest of the world was completely wrecked by WW2, except for the americas, but South America was barely "developing" at the time.

Yeah nobody mentions the 1950s in say Vietnam because nobody is talking about 1950s in Vietnam when they mention the 1950s. They're talking about USA.

Thank you.

Homophobia, racism, sexism were the norm, and you could easily find jobs and sustain a family, and there wasn't a national anxiety like there has been for decades now. So if you were on the privileged side of the spectrum, you had an easy life.
