There are videos of people playing the demo on the show floor and the web swinging/traversing looks sexy (and fluid) as fuck.

It looks great and Im pretty hyped for it. Not to mention I really like Insomniac Games so theres that too.

I love Insomniac. It's nice that, for once, we have an actual big time AAA developer working on a Spider-Man game instead of one of Activision's many throwaway developers.

All the Spider-man games have had issues. Usually tied to budget or scope (or time for Spidey PS1).

Nah. Let's be honest, as much as I loved those games and beaten them multiple times (Enter Electro and it's predecessor) they have a hard time holding up nowadays and the age really shows.
This new game though, just by these previews alone, they're knocking everything out of the park that I want from a good Spider-Man game.

based on the rumors about the story, it sounds like it's tied to a comic event called Dark Reign. that's all I will say. but yea, I am pretty hyped. it looks damn good

I was able to recite this word-for-word as the characters were saying it when I watched a YouTube video on the game.
That's when I realized I played that game way too much as a kid lol

I always thought I played Maximum Carnage but I later found out that MC was a single player game and I remember explicitly that I was able to play co-operative with my brother. Turns out, that was the sequel Separation Anxiety.

I'd really like another Shattered Dimensions style game....but only because I really, really loved Spider-Man Noir levels.

The style and art. The way the sneak mechanism worked and the play on the limits of his web. Those were some damn fun times.

I can't wait to go to the very top of the tallest building and just throw myself off of it and watch him slam into the ground. I don't know why, but that is the first thing I do every time I'm given open world control over Spider-Man.

I played both, and I really hope we get to see some symboites in the future in this game. As a kid, I use to always trade for venom and carnage cards and to the point where 80% of my collection was just them lol.

The carnage I grew up with in the 90s was an incredible villian and Venom was the one character that got me to fall in love with the anti-hero archetype.

No, it is not safe to say that at all. All the gameplay footage I've seen looks extremely stiff and context driven, favoring style over freedom. Being Spiderman should be all about becoming Spiderman, which is mastering a skill that you've learned. That's why 2004's Spiderman 2 is still regarded as the best, because of the way it allows you to improve your web slinging technique or make mistakes in the process.

Give me a break. Spider-Man 2 is so overrated. It was a good game, don't get me wrong. But this one already looks like it's set to blow it out of the water.

Plus it's physics based and you can upgrade swinging as you play.
