I cant figure out the problem, and the only google solution i can find wont work.
I replaced my router today. I got the new one up and running... on every device in the house except my desktop (over wifi). Getting a "wireless security types do not match" error. The solution to it is to delete the network profile and try to reconnect. But when i try to reconnect, it asks for either the pin on the router or the network security key. I have both. And neither work. Google offers no help for this eventuality. And im at a loss. Please help. --- Boom! That's right, this is all happening! You cannot change the channel now! Act now! I'm no networking guy but is it looking at wpa/wpa2/wep not matching between computer and router? Is that a setting that you could change? @Medussa

That'd be my guess is that you were using WEP before and WPA now or vice versa. After removing the old saved network settings, open up the command prompt as admin and type:
netsh wlan show profiles If you do see your wireless network listed there, then it isn't being removed properly for some reason. Type: netsh wlan delete profile name="wirelessnetworknamehere" Then try to reconnect. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

i sincerely thank you both for trying, but I just got off the phone with comcast and it's resolved. had to do a factory reset. apparently, it's a thing that happens sometimes that the network won't recognize that the correct information is actually the correct information. Brilliant!

Is that a setting that you could change? for completeness sake, this is what I thought was the problem, but I could not find a set of settings that would allow me to connect. turns out it was just buggy coding. --- Boom! Gfd, one day later and it's doing it again. I tried your solution this time @CableZL, but it does seem to be deleting the profile. Any other suggestions? Im not calling them for a reset every day.

I'd have to say the router is faulty at that point. That doesn't even make sense for it to happen repeatedly. The security paramaters are either correct or they aren't.

Alright, a local reset of the router fixed it this time. But thats still super tedious if i'll have to do it every day.
