Good. A kiosk knows the difference between a sausage biscuit with egg and a sausage egg and cheese. Also knows the difference between a sausage mcmuffin and a sausage egg mcmuffin. Also won't overcharge me by 25 cents because I asked for no mayo.

Sucks for the three or four decent McD cashiers but over here on the other side of the counter, we could not be happier.

Can you expand on that more? Sorry - this is not an area that I have a lot of knowledge.

I'm no expert either frankly. And to the extent that I support it is largely based off where we're at technologically. I don't support it because of ideological reasons.

I don't have the exact rates or anything. Also, there's the issue population growth. It's philosophizing than actual policy in my mind.

It really does just come down to eliminating human interaction. Shop on Amazon, order through kiosk's, date online, self checkout, and forever with a phone in your face. I wrote this from my smart phone so...part of the problem lol

What? How the hell are the rich leeches? They pay at least 70% of the taxes in the US.

Imagine the taste of a McDs burger that was never touched by human hands.

Might actually start to look like the shit they advertise. That said, if they go full automation, there really should be laws forcing them to use pics of the actual product instead of bull shots.

I imagine the rates of food poisoning is going to go down too. Robots aren't going to drop your shit, under cook it, leave it out for too long, etc unless programmed to.

I've been using their mobile app for months now, way cheaper (coupons) and I don't have to explain to some idiot kid 5 times how I want my burger.

A study by Purdue already proved that all McDonald's needed to do to pay a $15 wage was increase the cost of each item by 17 cents.

This would keep the profit margins the same too.

I like the kiosks. They are faster and you won't also annoy a cashier if you are just trying to check out what is on the menu. It is easier and less awkward that trying to look at the menu signs while standing in front of the cashiers.

comes at a cost though. if humans are still the one bagging food, there's a chance i won't get everything i ordered. on the flipside, i can't haggle the kiosks to give me tons of extra sauces.

I do feel bad for the cashiers who just wanted work experience. They would work there for about six months, and then find another job or head off to college. Not demand $15 an hour or else threaten to strike.

I'll agree with that. Sucks forbthise that use it as it is intended: part time, temporary, gain experience etc. It's the lifers that want $40k per year flipping burgers that fucked it up for them.

I guess with the decrease in business, there aren't as many customers to serve and they can lay off a few employees.

Like i said, self checkout has existed for decades. many stores already implement it. having fewer cashiers and more self checkout kiosks hasn't dropped the price of goods at all...so i still don't understand why people suddenly feel so strongly in support of it when it comes to McDonalds. This has nothing to do with raising wages. its already been something that's been taking place for years. They'll install many more kiosks and the price of their menu will either go up or stay the same. we're all losing lol.

They mathematically have to. If they can charge 55 cents more and still sell the same quantities, why arenthey already?

They're increasing prices because they're following the change in the equilibrium price. Charging seventeen cents more is exceeding equilibrium price and decreasing revenue.

Not that I'm against these sort of things, but it seems more people look at these types of innovations more as a "fuck you" to poor people than great technical innovations. Some people just get so happy over this stuff just because people will lose jobs. Then they shoot down anything that might help these future unemployed people as "socialism" or something.

What is wrong with some people? Why do you worry more for big corporations than your fellow common person?

And they're still raising prices. They're charging you more for a chicken sandwich today than they did in 2015 and it doesn't line up with the cost of production for that chicken. You're so worried about "if they raise wages they have to raise prices and that'll affect me!"....But they're already doing it to you.

Faster for you and I and I'm sure all of CE, but man I can imagine, some of the people I'm behind in the drive thru barely can figure out how to communicate what they want to the speaker, I can see them just staring blankly at a kiosk waiting for it to speak to them or something.

But yeah. People actually go inside to order and McDonald's? I can't remember the last time I've been inside one. >_>
