I'd wonder when and how we suddenly got a Democratic president and Democratic house/senate control. "Science" and "education" are pretty much the enemies of conservatives and the Republican party.

Those are two aspects of science, and typically what a lot of people think of. That's why I mentioned it. Feel free to add other areas.

That. Whole loooooot would have to change for our focus to turn to science and education with this much republican control.

The thing is those aren't the government's responsibility. Doesn't mean they're "anti-science/education".

I'd be proud of the government actually investing in itself and the future.

1. I mean... yeah, investing in the bettering of the country kind of IS the government's responsibility...

2. Of course not. Them being anti-science and education is what makes them anti-science and education.

I mean, aside from how awful the argument "we defund them, but we're not against them!" is, there was a distinct flair of anti-education/anti-intellectual/anti-expert in the last campaign that got republicans in office lol

Bruh, just go with it. They get lumped together so often that it's just Sceince and Engineering at many colleges.

No, engineers are not sceintist, but they are/can be capable in the field of sceince. Should I have said space science, with a leaning toward space engineering? WHY AM I EVEN RESPONDING THIS!!!???

Naw, not while basic science is floundering due to a lack of funding while applied sciences and engineering are being maintained.

Well, when I said science, I figured basic would be included. Anyway, I assume you would be all for it.

But there's a reason you highlighted certain fields, and that reason allows government officials the opportunity to slash funding for science that isn't sexy to the public without any fear of backlash. In fact, many people would be in favor of it, because we've taught them that science is only as useful as its tangible output.
