like, whenever i talk to others about how "attractive" a person is, people always assume i'm only ever talking about their looks, and i find it p annoying tbh

but is that on me for not realizing that that's what most people only ever think about, or is it on them for only ever assuming that that's what we're talking about?

When you say something is attractive, people generally mean physically. It's on you for not realizing it.

There's a difference between "attracted to" and "attractiveness".

The former is personal preference, which I think you're referring to.

The latter is a general consensus, which typically addresses physical looks, because it's harder to quantify someone's emotional, mental, or social attractiveness from a quick study.

Yeah. Attractiveness is talking about physical appearance. If you like them for other reasons (like they're funny, or nice, or whatever), than use other words.

Attractiveness to me incorporates any interesting or enticing qualities a person might have.

-attractive looks
-attractive personality
-attractive intelligence
-attractive benefits
- etc

I tend to look for commitment now, so I gauge each of those regularly in no specific priority when dating. I've had satisfying boyfriends who were dimwitted, yet gorgeous and fun. I've also had very satisfying relationships with partners who were only average at best in appearance, but had captivating character and wit.

I would have missed out on a lot of nut-busting nights with smooth partners if all I considered attractive was looks...
