I don't know how this helps BC specificly... Weed can be grown/sold anywhere.

Because they produce the most weed in the country due to favorable growing conditions and culture and already have huge established grow ops

It can be done anywhere but BC has been doing it bigger and better than anywhere else for a long time. They're going to be ready when it does start in retail.

It'll be a help to all of Canada. I just know bc had been dealing with shit because of the pipeline situation.

The Canadian government paying that much for existing infrastructure is not great. That's hundreds of dollars per taxpayer for that alone. That's no new pipeline.

Why are we tearing up the mountains and risking water tables to build additional oil pipelines when we know we needed to curb fossil fuel use yesterday? Decades ago that project may have made sense. Now it's like building new coal power plants. Why on Earth go in that direction any longer. We know better

Imagine what 4.6 billion could have been done invested in renewables to get Alberta and Saskatchewan off of coal

While I agree it has gotten to the point where the government has to pay for it is stupid. The world still relies on fossil fuels to run most things. Diversifying our customers is not a bad thing with a minimum risk to our environment.

Oil discovery and production has decreased. It makes no sense to start building this infrastructure now. I would have agreed with the project decades ago. Not currently. The existing infrastructure is in desperate need of maintenance and countless oil leaks happen with the pipelines we do have. Fix what's there.

I agree we won't be free of fossil fuel use any time soon if ever for some things. But we can cut down on its use it eliminate it entirely for other applications. We have to. Opening up another easy transport method only encourages reliance on fossil fuels and discourages seeking the alternatives that we need.

I agree. Look at Saudi Arabia because of its dependency on selling oil and not branching out. They have the benefit of a huge pile of money and an upcoming monarch who can just decide to fix things and say "fuck off" to any dissenting parties. That's not always a good thing, but it is in this case. Meanwhile, the brains in charge of Canada at the moment are making $7B slush funds and paying for pipelines somebody else would've built at their own expense.... Things are going to get a lot worse before they get a little better.
