She wasn't just some junkie who "attempted to buy" a little bit of cocaine and even in her recent interviews she said it was not worth it (referring to what she knew she was doing at the time). That being said, her sentence was probably too harsh. Trump reviewed the evidence, spoke with the warden, and spent time researching her case.
