I should clarify that I dont believe I am seei actual ghosts, but Im calling them ghosts because in the moment I believe they are.

So every now and then after I go to sleep, Ill probably be half asleep and wake up because I think that I saw something in the room moving (in the dark). My girlfriend has woken up with me a couple of times because of my reactions.

The latest time was last night. I was woken up seeing a very vague figure move from my side of the bed near the head of the bed, down to the foot of the bed to the bedroom doorway, extending an arm out and pointing its hand at me as it moved away.

I sat up in bed leaning to my right side on my elbow because I wasnt sure if I really saw something, and I was trying to be silent to see if there was an actual person in the room. As I realized there was no movement and nothing there after a few moments, I went back to sleep (my girlfriend didnt wake up this time).

A lot of the time when this happens my mind goes from wondering about a ghost, to wondering if theres an intruder, to staring at the last place I saw it until I finally realize its gone.

Im sure its not really a ghost but in the moment it usually freaks me out pretty bad

True, thats the paralysis part lol. So are you fully lucid during these experiences?

Leave a digital voice recorder running while you sleep and see if you get any EVPs.

Im definitely able to move during these times. When it first happens I feel confused, until I kinda stare at where I thought the figure was for a few moments and realize that its not there.

I think its some kind of half asleep situation where maybe i dream seeing a figure and as soon as I dream that part it wakes me up and the confusion sets in. Then Im kinda regaining my sensibility and realizing that nothing is there.

I dont know. Its really weird to describe, it definitely feels real and for the majority of it Im lucid

Lol from what Ive read in that article the shadows are apparently harmless apparitions. Now Ive read in other places that they can be omens, but dont quote me on that.

From what I've read so far they don't really describe what happens to me, at least not exactly. For one, it's not specifically out of my peripheral, sometimes I've seen it walk right in front of me. And it's not always the same or not always a shadow kinda thing. Last night's was kind of like a blurry vague figure, but other times I have actually been able to kinda distinguish between a male or female figure, and at least once I've noticed that one actually had color, like maybe a blue shirt or something like that. And I've never felt paralyzed in my bed and helpless, I usually shoot up into a sitting position, which is what has woken my girlfriend up before.

She says it's really creepy when she gets woken up and she sees me sitting there staring at the wall. Usually at this point I'm kinda staring hard in the dark trying to figure out if it's there or not.

Also, this has happened in two different houses I've lived in. Last night's happening is the first time I actually logged the event in my phone so I can try to see if there's a pattern. Like as far as if it's a certain time of night, maybe something I ate, etc.

Are they hot

I'm not sure. I can't ever get a good enough detailed recollection of faces or like bust size or anything. If I do though you'll be the first to know

Well the article does say that they can appear in direct sight as well, although its rare. But, if youre able to distinguish color and gender then it may very well be actual ghosts your seeing. Is it the same apparition(s)? Or different ones?

Pretty much my thoughts on it. But in those moments where I don't know this, they are totally "ghosts" to me

Different every time. I also one time freaked out because I thought the wall next to my bed was falling/crashing down. And I woke up and kinda like yelled out and put my hand on the wall, like I was trying to stop it from falling. My girlfriend comforted me and the next day I told her that I was trying to stop the wall from falling on her (really, me since it was my side) lol

Might very well be hallucinations then if you saw a wall falling in on you lol. If thats the case then you would need to keep a daily diary on your diet/habits and try to determine the trigger, if there is one. Ive had a few nights waking from a deep sleep and tripping out when I had gotten dehydrated on a cruise.

Sounds like you're in stage 1 sleep and your dreams are mingling with the part of your mind that's still conscious. The real oddity here is your lack of paralysis. Do you by chance have a history of sleepwalking?

I sometimes have sleep paralysis or night terrors. Usually once or twice a year, either after a long bout of sleep deprivation or if I'm sleeping alone in an unfamiliar place. It's actually been a while now, I think the last episode was 3 or 4 years ago, but I also haven't been in a typical trigger situation in that time, either. I rarely see anything (the only time I recall seeing a figure was like 20 years ago, and that was a woman in a white nightgown with a bright light behind her. She looked angelic but was still terrifying), but I always feel like there's someone or something watching me. I can't move. I know it's all in my head but the more I try and fail to move the more i panic. Then I try to scream, just to wake myself up, but I can hear myself and all I can manage is a whimper. These episodes only last a few minutes, but they can be horrifying. It was at its worst when I was a teenager. Shit happened almost every night for a while. I'm so glad that's behind me (for the most part).

I wouldn't say I have a consistent history of sleepwalking, but there are a couple of instances where I have done something like that.

Like once when I lived alone in an apartment, I woke up in the middle of the night on the sofa. Sounds normal, but all of the lights were out in the apartment, TV was off, and my phone was connected to the charger in the bedroom. I never slept on the sofa unless I fell asleep while playing video games/watching TV, and I never left my phone charging in another room- it would either be on my coffee table uncharged or I'd bring the charger into the living room. So the only explanation I had for myself was that I went to bed, then sleep walked to the sofa and laid down, and then woke up at some point.

There was another time I remember where I went to bed, and when I woke up the next morning my clothes hamper had been placed between the wall and my side of the bed, close to the foot of the bed. But I never kept it there, I always kept it between the wall and the bed at the head of the bed. Otherwise, when its at the foot of the bed, when I come to bed in the dark I would trip over it. And I know I didn't trip over it when I went to bed that night- so I kind of deducted that in my sleep, for some reason, I moved my clothes hamper.

Those are the main two times I know of that I did sleep walk/sleep activity kinda things.

That sleep paralysis stuff you described sounds terrifying. I'm glad I haven't had any bouts with that

Yeah. Being nearsighted and often having problems sleeping(less so in recent years though) makes this worse for me. I don't sleep in the dsrk because everything quickly morphs into creepy shit when dark + poor vision collide and my imagination +creaky house, creepy shit from online and the quiet of the night combine.

Also it's how I always slept and I am a creature of habitm
