I don't mean the electoral system but rather the plurality system, or first past the post, where you vote for a single person. There are a couple systems that are generally better for everyone, and ours is largely the worst voting system :/

I was listening to a podcast the other day that talked about this; there's nothing in the constitution requiring congressional or senate elections to be first past the post. In theory changing to a proportional system or ranked choice (which already exists in some locales) is just a matter of changing state and local laws.

The whole government needs an overhaul.

Product of being one of the first modern constitutional democracies. Either way, changing how its done procedurally doesn't necessarily mean that it wouldn't end up degenerating back to what it is now, because that's more of a psychological or cultural product.

The stark contrast of our countries politics I think has a lot to do with the fact that the U.S. is a very heterogeneous population with a very large land mass. This means there is a sizable rural population collectively that contends with urban populations, and generally these two populations have different goals/values/ideologies.

Most other smaller countries with a more homogeneous population will probably be outweighed by their collective urban ideology.

Yeah, I don't see any easy fix for voter satisfaction.
