I just find that they eventually fall behind. Not only because their terrible move makes it hard for them to literally keep up, but because their low speed makes it harder for them to get as many kills, despite their high strength. And as good a class as general is with their caps and all. Knight is probably the worst class in the game. That said, Oswin is about as good a knight as they come because of his high starting level and bases gives him a pretty sizable head start over everyone. So keeping up isn't as hard and scoring kills is easier. --- S*** I have to stop doing that," Gheb said, as he lay back down and died again. - Forgotten Love Chiefs are going to win the Super Bowl ... What if I don't care about ranks and I still don't like Knights/Generals? They usually can't double, which makes their damage output weaker in the long run than units that can double, and his low movement makes him less flexible than units that can still take a hit without having to sacrifice movement. If I really wanted a dedicated tank I'd sooner use Lowen. I may shit on that guy's offensive growths, but at least he has decent base speed combined with a lower level, giving him more opportunities early on to improve that speed, and he doesn't sacrifice movement or partial WTC just to fill the role of tank. Again, I don't care about ranks or low turn counts, but I still think it's always better to have the option to rush when a map requires rushing. For that reason alone I tend to bench Knights when their high durability ceases to make up for low movement. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

You guys are acting like Oswins purpose is to charge ahead and score kills. He's meant to safely bait the enemy while dealing large damage so another unit can safely finish them off. There are also plenty of 'hold the line' chapters in the game that he excels at.

I liked having truly devastating weapons with the downside being that you can't use them forever. And think of it from a balance perspective. Imagine Wolf Beil functioned like starting Prf weapons in Awakening or Fates where it had unlimited uses. You would have an halberd-hammer combo in a game loaded with mounted lancing-using enemies and a fair share of armored lance-wielding bosses and a single weapon to obliterate them all. Hector would become even more over-powered than he already is. It'd destroy balance and they'd have to nerf the weapon with either no effective damage (like the Yato) or effective damage against a largely irrelevant enemy (like Chrom's Falchion). Instead you get a weapon that is super useful for at least 20 kills against an important enemy type so long as you are reasonable with its usage. That to me is way more useful than Chrom's Falchion. Same goes for ultimate weapons. I'd much rather have 25 hits of full-powered Basilikos rampage than have it be unbreakable but have it destroy my offense afterwards. Silver weapons are even worse in Fates. If you have a silver weapon equipped on enemy phase your stats might get so destroyed that the unit is useless for the rest of the map. --- S*** I have to stop doing that," Gheb said, as he lay back down and died again. - Forgotten Love Chiefs are going to win the Super Bowl ... The class has continued to get nerfed, now hasn't it? FE6's 30% critical was way too obscene though, clearly they didn't test the ramifications enough. Rapier would be a pretty badass weapon in other games (well, it *is* a pretty badass weapon in other games) where the effective damage multiplier is 3, but the English release of FE7 changed it to 2 for some reason. So weapons that get bonus damage against specific enemy types are much weaker than usual, made even worse when you have face weapon triangle disadvantage (which you always do against knights and usually do against cavaliers). Rapier ends up way wimpier than it should be as a result.
