Can't even break 30 million on its second weekend. Horrific drop. Ocean's 8 will bury it and then Incredibles 2 and then Jurassic World 2. It has released in every foreign market except Japan and Japan won't flock to it obviously.

It likely won't even break even (500-600m is what is needed), much less turn an actual PROFIT by the end of its run. Absolutely insane for a Star Wars movie and for those trying to say it bombed because it was just a spinoff movie, Rogue One made over a billion worldwide. This movie was truly bad mojo from the get-go and the negative response from The Last Jedi certainly didn't help.

How will Disney respond to this?

Good. It doesnt deserve to profit. Lucasfilm and management let a complete fuck-wad direct the middle movie of a trilogy, knowing full well the ideal movie he wanted to develop, was one that divided a fanbase, and was controversial.

Johnson literally has an old interview where he states the kind of movie he would want to make if he had the chance to do a Star Wars film is one where when people left the movie theater, half the people liked it, and the other half of the people hated it. He literally said he would want to divide the fanbase...google the interview.

After that mess that was TLJ, the fans were fed up, especially because instead of coming out and saying ''Hey, sorry, we took a chance that we shouldnt have taken, and it backfired...we wont inject real world politics and social agendas into these movies anymore''--they doubled down, and attacked the fans, calling the people that didnt like it ''womanizers, scared of strong women, racists/bigots, a bunch of basement dwelling neckbeards'' etc etc and continue to blame everyone but themselves for this hot garbage they're pushing out.

Even now, with Solo failing, they're doing everything they can to blame memorial day weekend for the low ticket sales.

I've legit never seen a company dodge taking responsibility like this before over something so blatantly their fault. The people that pay them have literally told them how to fix this mess, and they insult them, and say their opinion doesnt matter. Normally, Disney and/or Lucasfilm would have found a scapegoat to put all this on, and fired those people/person.

If i were shareholders, i would tell Kuckleen Kennedy she needs to re-direct the franchise or step down. Episode 9 is going to be a failure at this rate, and that is a main installment in the franchise--not some side story.

Star Wars is about taking 2 hours to get away from real world bullshit like politics and social agendas--we fucking deal with enough of that bullshit on a daily basis as it is, we dont go to the movie theater to see that integrated into our Star Wars films.

This just goes to show that SJW ideas and agendas do nothing but ruin entertainment. 90% of the people who would bitch and complain about a lack of diversity or strong women arent even the ones who would contribute to the sales to begin with. They ruin one thing, and just as fast as they ruin it, they move onto the next thing.

I didnt care that the movie sucked. I was dissapointed for obvious reasons. It wasnt until Lucasfilm started shitting on the fans first that the majority of fans started hitting back, and i took notice and switched my position on the topic.

They literally say anyone who didnt like the movie are all those things, whether they noticed an ulterior agenda underlying the movie or not. If you didnt like the movie, you're lumped in with bigots and the like...which is funny, because i havent seen one racist or bigoted critique of the movie at all--so fuck that shit.

I figured most of CE would know what the situation is, but i guess not. Kathleen Kennedy, JJ Abrams, and Rian Johnson have all came out and straight said there were feminist and SJW undertones throughout the movie--which is why they immediately began ostracizing those who didnt like the movie.

Why are you bringing up her gender, or sexuality...? It has nothing to do with anything...Did you even watch TLJ? She was a complete bitch, who kept the plan to herself which caused the entire sub-plot of Canto-Bight (which was fucking traassshh) to happen in the first place, which ended up failing, and being a complete waste of 45 minutes of the movie...

The fans didnt make these characters into SJWs or Feminists--Lucasfilm did during their interviews, and press releases where they address fan backlash over the movie being terrible.

Like i said, they made shit up, and blamed it on the fans, instead of taking responsibility for their mistakes.

A big one i can tell you off rip is that Rey is a mary sue--and they take offense to that. Shes a mary sue because they dont develop her character at all and shes perfect at everything she does, but the word ''mary sue'' is apparently bigoted (even though its a general term, that can be applied to any character no matter the gender or race) and they attack anyone who thinks Rey is a bad character. So, if you think Rey is a bad character, they automatically attack you because you're being sexist, because you're scared of strong women, etc, etc--its basically been like this since the movie came out.

People find legitimate reasons for the movie sucking, and Lucasfilm/Kathleen Kennedy/JJ Abrams/Rian Johnson turn around and spin it into a race/gender/etc issue when its not.

Notice Mark Hamil hasnt said a word about anything like that? He knows it sucks, hes done all but come out and say it. He said he fundamentally disagreed with everything Rian was doing. Theres also an interview where he says ''I tried to tell Ryan we need to listen to the fans, and Rian said no, we need to make the movie WE want to make'' and the crowd cuts Hamil off and starts applauding, and Mark face palms and looks so sad...lol, shits crazy.

I think a lot of that reaction comes from the fact that some people make that criticism of Rey, but male characters in the franchise that have had similar treatment haven't had the same criticism.

People legitimately boycotted Solo. For the reasons i listed above. Its been getting nothing but bad press from any site that isnt paid by Disney/Lucasfilm since The Last Jedi came out. Especially independent sites and youtubers.

Lucasfilm has been making things worse and worse by alienating its fans, saying theyre racist and bigoted sexist basement dwellers.

Im 99% sure it has nothing to do with ''fatigue''. Star Wars is Star Wars...well, at least it was up until recently. Disney has really let things go to shit.

Disney had to step in with Electronic Arts when they fucked up Battlefront. I wonder how much longer Daddy Disney is going to let KK and Lucasfilm run rampant and keep attacking the people that pay their salary.

I think maybe it'd be better sticking to the sequel series as films, and whatever entries (say episodes 10, 11, and 12 in however many years) as films as well, and maybe putting the stuff from the spin-off movies into other forms of media? Like miniseries, TV, games, or whatever else?

Or maybe just upping the quality of the spin-offs. Making them more unique.
