Anti-gay people are on par with racists. They will always exist, but have zero credibility and are out of touch with reality.

Why am I not surprised that there's users arguing that "ew gays are icky" is a valid opinion that needs to be respected/tolerated.

Then again it's probably the same type of people who think "Hey people don't deserve to die if they get sick and can't afford it" is a political opinion.

I do admire him. That's why I bring it up. I want more people to be like Daryl Davis.

The man is literally a National Treasure IMO for converting 200 KKK members.

We should all strive to do better than him.

The world would be a much better place if we all tried as hard as he did.

The first conversion was definitely by chance, the remaining 199 conversions was effort that he went out on his own and accomplished it for the greater good of society.

Converting the rest of them. Your current efforts have only gotten you so far, yet how many people out there are homophobic in the US? How long has it taken society to get to this point? How many lives were hidden because of it. We could've done far better by being mature and having a open discussion with society about this topic.

You'd do a better job by being polite, respectful, and not condescending to others, especially if you want to win them over.

You will be converting more of society onto our side by doing it in a Friendly manner than by being acerbic towards them.

It's something you learn through experience.

Yeah, you might have gotten so far using your current methods, but from my point of view, you haven't done a good job compared to where you could be.

I still advocate starting civil in an attempt to bring them around - sometimes it's literally as simple as them having never interacted with someone they knew was gay - but it doesn't take much observation to figure out when someone isn't going to change. So, fuck civility in those cases.

Not those who I interact with. It takes consistent interaction with over a long period of time to convert them.

If you expect quick results, you're bound to not get what you're looking for in the long term.
