I really liked that slow burn feel of the first movie, whereas this one (at least going by the trailers) seem like more of straight up action movie, which is a bit of a odd turn.
But plus side to this is Del Toro's character was great movie and it got the small writer from the first movie (different director though sadly).

I didn't actually like the first one, but everyone I know loved it and kept telling me how great it was. I saw the trailer for the second one today and even I was like, 'Eh, that looks really bad compared to the first.'

It looks like such a shift in tone that I just can't see it pleasing the fans of the first one in the same way. Then again, the trailer could just be misleading.

The new director haven't done too many noteworthy projects but I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised.
