That's different tho. Flipping someone off is a form of communication that the other party can receive and react to/be affected by. It's actually not entirely correct to say that it does no harm because it actually has the capability of ruining someones day.

To make themselves feel better, but most people don't wait for people to turn around. But in the cases they do, it's very similar to pissing on a grave, it just makes the person feel better for some perceived slight.
