Up until a couple years ago I had a job where I was right in front of a computer 98% if the time, so it's not like I had anything better to do. I have a different job now but still have *some* down time and GFaqs is a good time waster, I don't understand reddit and these newfangled things.

When your younger you always assume that things change so much just because of your age. Your still the same person for the most part. Most of the things you enjoy now you will still enjoy in 10 years.

Reddit is super-annoying to navigate and downvote oppression is the worst.

I've got plenty of responsibilities (full-time job, wife, two kids, house, etc) and I don't post on CE much, mostly just lurk a little bit, but it doesn't feel weird talking to folks younger than me.

When I was in my 20s I regularly interacted with people older than me, so it seems reasonable to interact with those in their 20s while I'm in my 30s now.

Sure, I may not be keeping up with all of the latest references like I did when I was younger, but we're all still humans so we can still get along.

Also for me at least there is something on my brain that just makes me assume everyone I interact with on the internet is within my age range. For whatever reason. Then there will be a topic about where were you on 9-11? And a bunch of people werent born, were toddlers, were in 3rd grade, etc... then I realize how wrong I am on that assumption, lol.

this, most people on CE mainly post at work is my assumption

though maybe that is me projecting a bit

on the flipside, i think the normalness of anyone coming here nowadays under 20 or thereabouts is what should be questioned. this whole place is a dying last vestige of the old net. traditional forums have gone by the wayside largely due to reddit. FAQs have been rendered all but obsolete because of wikis and video walkthroughs. why the fuck would someone who wasn't here in this site's heyday want to start coming here now?

this. this right here is a beautiful truth.

I'm 31 and my job has me in front of the computer for 90% of my day. You best believe I'll be on here several times a day.

Most people here would be mid-late 20s/early 30s

This.

Most of us on here started way back in the day when we were teenagers and young adults. We just stayed here and the site hasn't been getting many new users ever since then. The demographic just aged as time went by.

Not to mention, responsibility has nothing to with getting on the internet to interact with it. For example, I am sitting here running a report and waiting on my next meeting in 30 minutes so I figured I'd see what fresh hell was on CE this morning.

This

Why do young people imagine that being an adult is just constantly attending to something?

I think its more the perception that youd just get tired of the rigamarole as you age. Find better things to do with your time and the like.

Having over 200 active messages feels sorta pathetic at my age.

As someone close to 30, you just kind of keep coming back out of habit. Trolls aside, GameFAQ's forums can actually have some pretty good discussions and back and forth as well, depending on which boards you go to.

why is it pathetic to talk to people that you have similar interests with? Hopefully the stupid boomer meme of the internet is for nerds and a waste of time will end soon. Imagine shaming people for finding their hobby or a connection of people with similar hobbies and shaming them for it*

*It is permissible to shame furries for their hobbies though

the best analogy I can give you is Pokemon. People say that Pokemon is a kids game. But people grow up. The first Pokemon was released in 99, those kids, are now grown adults who play those games.

Me personally, I've been on this website since 2002. It was a godsend in an world with only strategy guides(which didn't tell you everything you needed to know), or terrible websites.

My account was created in 2001, I'm an old timer by GFAQs standards in my 30s.

It's not unusual for people in my age cohort to be on message boards, we grew up on that stuff. It IS unusual to troll, shit post and be disruptive on a message board when you're past HS age though.

Not like it takes long to post an average forum post.

Boiling water for noodles? Why not check a forum.
Working on finances/spreadsheets? Take a 5 min. break and check a forum.

This too.
Occasionally those "how old are you" type polls make me feel suddenly old (I'm quite past 30...) but whatever.

@Parappa09 and I were discussing this the other day

The vast majority of this board has been posting here for 10+ years now, and we haven't really had many "new" users come in.

This board used to be all about high school/college problems, now it's people discussing politics, babys, work etc.

The board is older that it was, I'd say the majority of the users are now in their late 20s/early 30s when it used to be teens and early 20s.

There used to be a lot of 13-15 year old posters here, I'd be surprised if there are many at all now
