FC Cincy was breaking some attendance records in the past couple of years. Cincinnati is a huge soccer area and the locals are tired of watching the reds and Bengals suck.

I didn't know soccer was taken seriously most places. Do they regularly sell out?

That's good. HOwever, average attendance was only 42k. Promising I suppose tho.

The average attendance at a Braves game this year is less than 32k. No excuse that Atlanta FC is a good team and the Braves aren't, either. Both are in first place of their division/conference.

If it's the same as it was for Orlando it could be that they didn't allow full sales for a lot of games.

When Orlando played at the Citrus Bowl until their stadium was built, they didn't allow upper bowl sales for a lot of games despite them easily selling enough tickets to warrant it. There didn't seem to be any rhyme or reason from one week to the next as to whether upper bowl tickets were sold. Whenever they weren't, it sold out easily

I'm actually a pretty big MLS fan and even I think they're nonsensically overexpanding.

Yeah, Atlanta is doing well. Portland and Seattle do well. But as anyone who follows @EmptySeatPics knows, the vast majority of MLS stadiums are embarassingly empty for the vast majority of games.

Cincinnati has changed a lot in the past 10 years. OTR went from crime capital to millennial city.

I guess part of that is that teams are playing in stadiums far too big for them rather than purpose built soccer stadiums? Seems like the lowest in the league is around 15k average

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Major_League_Soccer_attendance

It's kinda like the Orlando Pride playing in Orlando City's stadium. They generally get 2-3k attendence which for a women's game wouldn't look bad apart from the fact they are playing in a 26k capacity stadium so it looks awful.

For reference the lowest average attendance in the English Premier League is 10k (driven by stadium size). The next 3 above that are 20k.

MLS tickets are super cheap where i am, at least compared to MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL

it can be a good time for the price

You did indeed stab me in the back. However, you are only level one, whilst I am level 50. That means I should remain uninjured.

and most of the stadiums are small enough that there aren't really any "bad" seats at all

I very much disagree with the notion OTR is nice and that Cincinnati is a millenial city. Majority of OTR is still horrible and crackheads are still rampant. Yeah Main and Vine are cool... for like two blocks. Went to Lucy Blue a month ago. Crackhead came in trying to sell customets a lamp she clearly found in the dumpster. They were also understaffed so the one man working left and paid a homeless guy to help bus tables. It was awesome how bad it all wad. As far as millenial city, the only people I see supporting this assertion are people from Cincinnati.

If you can't tell I hate Cincinnati and despise every single moment I find myself back there.

I suppose I've probably just gotten lucky with the times I've gone in.

Cincinnati's certainly big enough to have plenty of pockets of nice places. That goes hand-in-hand with the segregation though...

Yeah there are pockets of Cincinnati that are nice, and there are some cool things such as Oktoberfest and the Lights exhibit, but it is by and large just 'fine' in my opinion. Take it with a grain of salt though. I hated Cincinnati when I lived there because driving everywhere was terrible and there wasn't much to do. Now I highly value walking everywhere but I'd never walk from OTR up to Clifton where most of my friends live after a night out. Even if I didn't find it super sketch I probably still wouldn't simply because no one else would. Once walkability increases then I'll be more inclined to enjoy my time in Cincy.
