When Blue and Red came out, I was addicted. I spent practically every moment not in class playing Blue. I bought a pack of batteries every day or every other day because it kept running out. I had my father come to school to the principal because this kid wouldn't give back my Gameshark that I needed to use for Pokemon. I watched every episode and visited a lot of Pokemon websites in the late 90s, and did numerous Pokemon drawings.

Completely lost interest by Johto.

If you lost interest after Johto, you weren't a big Pokemon fan at all.

I remember playing Pokemon literally everywhere. My ma would be like "go outside" so Id grab the gameboy and climb the tree over our driveway or get in a car and play it. Had a lot of neighbors that would also play next to me.

Not that Johto was bad (though I didn't like it as much as Indigo and Orange Islands), I was reaching my mid to late teens and was outgrowing Pokemon. That was the time my older brother started getting many DVDs of anime that were more mature and I started liking those instead.

If you ever "outgrew" Pokemon, you weren't a big Pokemon fan at all.

This is a bad take.

That's not true at all. You're implying that people don't or shouldn't mature in their interests? I loved Care Bears as a kid, does it make me not a big fan if I stopped looking at it because I outgrew it?

Huge fan during R/B/Y then G/S

I hit my "edgy" teenage era shortly after G/S so I skipped Crystal because pokemon was for kids, and didn't play another pokemon game until FR

Been a fan ever since

It was my favorite franchise for a long time

Pokemon Red was the first game I ever played, and I'd get my parents to take me to Blockbuster and rent Crystal whenever my cousin would let me borrow his gameboy color for a little bit. The first system I ever owned was a GBA(and first game was Pokemon Ruby). I put way too much time into R/S/E, put even more time into FR/LF and then preordered Diamond and Pearl and played the shit out of them. Also was hyped for Heart Gold but I never finished it. After all that I was kinda burned out(and "competitive" pokemon is lol and didnt interest me at all) and I've basically checked out of the new games since then. I gave Black a chance(played like 2-3hrs) and wasnt feeling it. I bought back into the hype for Y when X/Y was coming out(POKEMON IN 3D YESSSS) but I don't know if I even hit 2 hours in that. I just couldnt enjoy it anymore.

I still play the GBC/GBA games from time to time though. But I dont give a shit about the new main games anymore.

Pokemon Shuffle is dope tho

I caught all 386 Pokmon in Ruby & Sapphire. I actually went to several events, including one in L.A. I still plan on getting back to that level, but it will take awhile.

Have been a fan since day 1, it has made a big impact on my life for the better. Left during gen 3s Hoenn but returned when FR/LG released and have been back ever since then.

Hated gen 3s Hoenn because of the lack of connection but love every other gen and region.

I had Red and Yellow, then Silver and Crystal. Sort of fell by the wayside before picking up Emerald and Firered
I probably played Crystal over and over again for ages, trading over pokemon to my brother and restarting
Gen 3 was when I really got into the mechanics. I started breeding pokemon to get better IVs, did EV training, etc. just to get better at the Battle Frontier

then I just stopped. Diamond and Pearl weren't my jam, couldn't get into the DS nearly as easily as the GBA. I did get gifted SoulSilver at some point though, and played the fuck out of that. Eventually I picked up Platinum at some point afterwards and had fun with it
a friend and I picked up Black and White and played that together and that was fun, then eventually B/W 2. same with X/Y and S/M eventually, but really I just started caring less and less about the regions
when ORAS came out though, that was my jam. picked up Alpha Sapphire and enjoyed it a whole lot

I can tell you exactly where every town is in Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn, but after that I get lost. the names don't stick to me, it took me forever to remember which Tapu is which, the genies, or Azelf/Uxie/etc. and even now I won't get them all right
I'm playing through UM right now, picked it up for cheap at toys r us, and I am enjoying it, but it's not like it was when I was younger. if I have the time, I might as well try to get a Living Dex. haven't succeeded but I have over half of them already on bank organized, so might as well do it before the Switch games come out

I know i'll grab the next one, large part of why I bought a Switch was for the big three (Mario/Zelda/Pokemon). because I do enjoy playing through them, but eh
