I level him to 26 to learn Thunderbolt, trade him to Red/Blue, evolve him to Raichu, then trade him back.

I trained my pokemon yellow pikachu to the point that he was stronger than any legendary on my team. He was sort of a glass canon, but damn we dominated that game together :D

Yes it does, have created a custom Pikachu started back in Pokemon FireRed that is based on the Pokemon Yellow/Ashs Pikachi which has been a traveling partner in every gen so far.

Pokemon Yellow was the one I loved the most of the original 3 games.
