As a start I absolutely loathe the whole outer space first half of the show, and I loathe outer space shit in general. But adding time travel shenanigans? It made me feel like maybe the odd numbered seasons of agents of shield are destined to be weaker than the even numbered seasons.

However, one thing that I found interesting was when they brought back Gravitonium on that space station. We hadn't seen it since season 1 so that was fun. Ever since last year or the one before I was wondering if they were ever going to bring back Gravitron which they teased eons ago, and now it almost seems like they will.

ONly on episode 16 now though we'll see. But that's the only part that made me go "huh, interesting" because I absolutely loathe the rest of the season, it features almost every element of media I despise, chiefly being the time travel shit.

If you are on episode 16 then you may be close to one of the best episodes from this season. Whats currently happening in the show? Are you before or after the 100th episode?

Creel became good again and broke them out.

Holy shit at Raina cameo again, the good old days, I miss her.

It seems they really are bringing back the unresolved Gravitron plotline from season 1, that's a plus I guess. Other stuff like over reliance on a fortune teller, not so much. I was already ambivalent about the fortune telling in season 3, but now they dialed up to 11 here.

I've been doing the same, this past week. And after some of the weirdness in season four, I'm really coming to understand why everyone thinks this is the best season of this show. Normally I'd agree with you that time travel ruins everything, because it makes stakes irrelevant, but they've managed to maintain that tension by introducing the possibility of a stable time loop, in which almost everyone dies.

Okay, some of this feels like a repeat of season 3.5, so meh. But I like that many of the same people are involved here as there. Really this whole season is about connecting dots within the season and pulling back mysteries from past seasons to resolve them. For example, I just realized the reason that time monolith needed to be reassembled by Flint, was because of the bomb shattered it at the end of episode 13. In that respect, that's like peak conservation of detail. I know Whedon is just the EP of this show, but that is totally one of his signature moves.

I'm also constantly tickled how many of the cast members from Spartacus keep finding actor cameos on this show, likely because of Maurissa Tancharoen's involvement in that show. It's like directors looking out for their casts, much like Whedon does for the Angel crew. It's sweet.

OMG Me, too. Seeing her do what she does best gave me so much life.

Yeah I guess I'm hoping that by the end of the season everything will retroactively be good because the finale is killer.

This season has a kind of finality to it though, a sort of "everyone dies and that's how the show ends" feel to it but the show was renewed for season 6 so I am eager to find out what they are planning on doing the next 6 episodes.

You know what I would have liked? A fight between that blue kree girl sinara and the blond teenish girl Ruby because they both walk the same way and fulfill the same role to the point that I first mistook Ruby in the outfit for Sinara.

Oh and another thing that annoyed me, more Hydra nonsense. That was supposed to be the one moderate silver lining from season 3. I mean, who even funds Hale's operation?

Will hold off on most of my questions though, until I watch the full season and get a full picture of everything.

I still can't get over how good it was to see Raina again, even if it was just for a couple of seconds.

Is it implied that the blonde big lipped teen girl is using seduction to get von strucker's kid on her side? I'm surprised he'd fall for a tactic like that just because she bat her eyelashes at him

I think it's less to do with her body and more with giving him the power and respect for once.

Huh it seems to have been mutual. Well up until she accidentally killed him lol. I do feel sorry for him, I weirdly liked him over his season 3 appearance.

How did Hale get away. And they really didn't secure the magical transportation device (or hell, Hale's entire base after they captured her) when they had the chance? Boy maybe Shield does suck

The fuck, now Talbot's the destroyer of worlds? What even is this nonsense. Well if they were going for twist no one was expecting they did it. I'm sure Talbot's happy to be having such a bigger role in the show now lol.

And now he's being manipulated by the aliens, the Kassius Kree no less. 2 episodes to go, I wonder if the big bad is gonna be fricking Talbot like how last season it was Darkhold human Aida with superpowers. And christ does he look dopey as fuck

Yeah I remember that in american terminology that was called the friday night death slot, and I remember thinking oh no is the show going to be canceled and feeling all sad. Of course, that was before I watched this iffy season but still, it worried me.

As the Time Chasers MST3K has said:

He's dead, but don't worry. They have a spare.

Anyone wondering about IW connections you'll be glad to know that the new season won't come out until after Part 2 of IW. Yep.

In the end, I stuck with this season, and it did have some nice moments, but honestly I feel like character-wise this is all stuff we've seen before. We kinda need to stop the focus on the Fitzsimmons dynamic because it frankly has run its course after five seasons. :-/

Ah right because two people can be around at the same time apparently. God I hate time travel crap.

So there's no blink out of existence thing for that fitz and deke or... ugh I don't even want to think about this stuff

I don't see anything wrong with fitz simmons. It's everything else about this season, mainly the plot that's annoying.

5 pretty easily takes the worst season award for me, which is a shame given 4 was far and away the best.

The first arc in space just dragged on and on, and the second arc, while better by mere virtue of being on Earth in the present day, was still bogged down by the time travel/time loop plot they made the focal point of absolutely everything.

From a production point of view, the seasons slashed budget REALLY showed. There were like... three sets all season, and they just kept using them over and over. And its not like they were visually appealing sets dull grey hallways everywhere, episode after episode.

5 had its moments, with the late season Fitz episode being a real standout. And I appreciated the shows commitment to bringing back and resolving long dormant plot threads. But on the whole this season was a total miss for me.

I mean... the better question would be why did you like it, and how would you compare it to the previous seasons?

See, that's what I'm talking about. And I wouldn't even mind the reused assets if they were good and not the dark dull hallways they actually were. Especially since season 4 was a cool concept with the 3 arcs coming together, and made up for how season 3 ended up being.
