Finally watched this movie, been dying to see it for months.

The story is so simple and yet the visuals, acting, even the cinematography was great!

I'm surprised that M'Baku wasn't even a villain in this movie, in fact he actually helped. The entire story threw me for a loop, I thought Klaw was going to be the big bad but he wasn't, it was the kid of the brother of the king. Still don't understand why the brother sold Wakanda out to someone vile like Klaw though, if his intentions were so honorable. Weird.

And no mention of the avengers or anything else, it was pretty self contained. I wonder what this will bode with Wakanda sharing their technology.

Is Infinity War not out in theaters where you are? I still think there are theaters in Oklahoma showing Black Panther three months after release because people kept going back to see it.

Maybe he lives in a foreign country where movie theaters aren't as widespread (but internet is?)

But anyway the movie was damn good. I liked the soundtrack as well.

Why did Black Panther even lose the first time against Killmonger? Also I keep forgetting they're cousins, since there seems like such an age gap between them. Michael B Jordan just seems like a kid compared to T'Challa

I wonder what that lip thing they have even is.

His emotions weren't straight because of all the stuff he learned about this father murdering his uncle and abandoning his cousin. And he's already struggling to handle the weight of carrying on Wakandan tradition. It's a difficult time in his life.

A tattoo of vibranium that identifies someone as a citizen of Wakanda. N'Jobu gave it to his son in the expectation that they would return home to Wakanda, but then they never did.

Yeah I was wondering if he was semi reluctant to even fight killmonger and possibly had feelings of guilt, which made him hesitant when fighting. Just as an explanation for him losing.

A tattoo of vibranium, I wonder how that works. Kind looks like a branding, which usually has negative connotations to it when it comes to people.

TChalla absolutely was hesitant. If you go back, youll notice there was a moment (its around 35 seconds into their fight) where he gets the upper hand and is standing with his spear over Killmonger. TChalla yells, yield, but Killmonger doesnt and just rolls away (exposing his back!) and gets up to resume the fight. Thats at least two clear moments when TChalla could have stabbed his opponent to death.

He does tell him to yield at the beginning. And we know from the m'baku fight that t'challa would rather not kill. Yeah, I can definitely understand why he had lost the first fight.

Oh, my bad.

I thought it was pretty obvious; he felt that he was shafted for not getting to be Black Panther and wanted to become powerful some other way. That sense of entitlement was pretty explicitly part of Killmonger's character, and even in his trip scene they sort of hint that it came from his dad.

I think Killmonger's father was mainly interested in arming non-Wakandan black communities, so they could revolt successfully. This was the same basic goal that Killmonger also advocated. I don't remember Killmonger's father ever mentioning a desire to be Black Panther, but I guess he could have wanted that.

Oh, you were referring to killmonger as brother, as in that ghetto slang for buddy.

I thought you were talking about the brother brother N'Jadaka, the brother of T'Chakka

Because, as was explicitly stated in the movie, he wanted to arm black communities around the world so that they could protect themselves and rise up. He felt Wakanda was leaving their brothers in poverty even though they could "easily" help them.

For the reasons stated by Killmonger, his father, the border guard captain, Nakia and later on T'Challa himself. They practically shoved the message down your throat.
"Wakanda needs to stop being isolationist and help black people around the world"
It was the entire point of the movie, it opened with it by Killmonger's father. Got repeated constantly by Nakia, the border guard and Killmonger and ended on doing exactly that.

Nowhere was it stated or even alluded to Killmonger's father was resentful for not being the Black Panther.

Yeah, MCU could follow that path, but obviously the movies have not been 100 percent faithful to the comics. Shuri has not been portrayed as being remotely interested in or best suited to take on the MCU Black Panther role. I'd rather have Okoye or even Nakia wear the suit, and Shuri could go the route of a Wakandan Riri Williams.
