I'm thinking the contract with SyFy is keeping them from announcing it already.

if this doesn't actually happen I'm going to be destroyed. show is so good. and they keep changing enough from the books to stay interesting, but without hurting the story.

also, a lot of the upcoming story can be told pretty quickly, so getting through all nine books should be doable in 6 seasons, maybe 7. That's not unreasonable for a show like this.

7 full novels out, 2 more coming to end the series, this and next December. (though the paperbacks are 10 months behind.)
a few more short stories, which at this point are e-book (and audio?) exclusive, but will be collected when, or soon after, the last one is published.
