It's going to be my first time in the US and I'm going to be in Brooklyn from 22 June - 30 June on conference and Manhattan from 30 June - 5 July.

What kind of stuff do you guys recommend that I do?

Bars? Clubs? Things that I have to try?

I'm doing the obligatory tourist things like Statue of Liberty and the Natural History Museum and Hayden Planetarium.

I enjoy pastas. I've heard that I need to get some deep dish pizza.

I don't know if I have any specific food preferences, more like what don't I eat. I don't really enjoy red meat though.

Also, I like fast food type things. Pizzas, Burgers, KFC type stuff. How's Popeyes? We don't have any of that here.

While deep dish is not bad in NYC, that's a Chicago thing. NYC is known for... Well NYC style pizza.

What is New York style pizza? Is there something different about it than regular fast food pizza?

EDIT: Just mentioning that I'm mainly asking for the kind of things I should be googling. Also, about the trolling thing, the people I've heard about it from were also South Africans.

Thanks. These are all now on my list of s*** to do. I'm liking the look of Joes Shanghai soup dumplings.

I might not do the coney island thing though because I'll probably be broke AF by that point in time.

The Metropolitan is a great alternative to the Museum of Natural History. I'd suggest both, but that would be a bit much for one trip.

Walking in and around Central Park is my favorite thing to do there.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll probably spend a day or 2 just walking around in Central Park. I'm also looking at getting the 3 day pass on the red bus thing and seeing what I feel like doing on the spot.
