Going to Boston for the weekend with my family--we have most of the touristy stuff mapped out for during the day but after 9ish I assume most of the fam will go to bed and the gf and I will be on our own.

Recs? We like live music, comedy, craft beer/drinks in particular

I don't really think there's much exciting around the Airport. You kinda need to be somewhere between the North End to Kenmore for much of the good stuff.

The Liquor Store is a great bar. It really opens up as you go in, though it looks small on the outside.

Also, Dicks Last Resort is always worth checking out. It's a gimmicky restaurant where the waiters treat you like garbage. It actually turns out pretty funny, especially in a group.

Google says the liquor store is closed. Also it sounds like a douchey college bar

Been to the Dicks in Vegas several times, its always a great time

Dicks isn't really a "Boston" place though. I've seen them up and down the coast.

Most places I know are gay places. I mean if you guys are up for like a drag show or something, check out Jacque's Cabaret. If not, hmmm.... Not 100% sure what night life is available. If I actually lived in Boston, I might have a better take on this.

Didn't realize it was closed, lol. Well Yard House is good for craft beer. They have like 70+ on tap.

Yard House is also a chain >_>

Places with live music, breweries/craft beer bars, unique places, etc

Preferably not places like House of Blues, Yard House, Dicks and the like that are in every major city across the country

Check out Great Scott, Sinclair, OBriens Pub, and Midway Cafe for small music venues. Even if you dont know any of the bands, might be worth listening to some and getting some local flavor.

My favorite bars are the Tam, Sullivans Tap, and Boston Sports Grille. Tam and Sullys are divey cash only places, BSG has my favorite bartender.

Ive heard good things about the Harpoon and Sam Adams brewery tours but Ive never been to either.

Those are exactly the type of places Im looking for but look kinda far from where were staying. Know anything similar closer to Boston proper/downtown?

Also damn thee oh sees are playing the Sinclair Saturday but its sold out

Royale is closer to downtown but theyve got nothing but nightclub shit this weekend. I cant guarantee anything but let me reach out to my Sinclair contact to see if theres any way a couple more tickets could magically appear.

the banshee is where my sister in law has been going for watching football (european) the past couple years, it's apparently pretty great

she also says davio's is a great place for a steak

Even better. You are near more things this way. Make sure you guys go to The Friendly Toast for breakfast one day. It's over in Back Bay. It's totally, totally worth it.

Unfortunately since its Boston Calling weekend I cant get you into Sinclair, too many guest list spots are going towards performers and their friends apparently.

I wish this was another time where something was happening at Royale that I could get ya in to, but its just normal nightclub shit this weekend and Im not involved in any of that. But if youre in that area go drink at the Tam before noon. Order a Jameson and a Gansett. Do it for me.
