Is it pretty cool?

I enjoyed it as an extra little job to pick up a few short shifts and make some extra cash back in the day. I don't think I'd like it as an actual career.

- intense pressure to upsell from management (in store and corporate)
- hate from ignorant customers
- hate from customers that should be aimed at corporate
- shit policies that nobody likes enforcing, but you have to or else
- people that can't read their receipt properly then get mad at you over return policies
- people that bitch about trade values

Overall, absolute shit. But worth it if you have good coworkers.

I also do a lot of great sales with pre orders and subs! I usually get 10-15 people to sign up daily and pre orders galore, even when they dont intend to they say yes!

You get to open new games, unlock stuff on them, smear chocolate (or other brown substances) on the book and then reseal them to sell as new.

Of course this is based on my experience as a former Gamestop customer.

The company policies and practices are shit.

I've never had a single interaction with a Gamestop employee that wasn't uncomfortable. They, so far, have been 100% weird nerds of all types. I never look forward to going to gamestop

Can you hypothetically rig the system? Like, let's say you or your friends and family put games on preorder. Can't you just get them to perpetually move their preorders to different games And still come off as a hero?

The gaming aspect of it is fantastic. Being around games and talking about them while being paid is awesome. That doesn't at all make any of the shit policies, shit customers, or shit company decisions any better though.

I dunno, most GS employees are cool IME, just obviously pressured to upsell, suggestive sell, push preorders, all dat jazz.

The ones that make me cringe are the teenagers working the electronics section at the superdupermarkets like Walmart or whatever where they're like OMGEEEEEEEE I PLAYED DIS ONE IT WAS DA BESS GAEM EVARRRRRRRRRR WILL U BE MY BESSSS FRIENNNNNNNN WHATS UR TAG SO WE KAN PLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY and I'm like dude

They wouldn't count the moved preorder as a new preorder. Not without counting the cancelled one against you first. At best, you would break even there.
