If you're white don't say it, easy as that

Imagine thinking it's okay to ban a word's usage based on the color of someone's skin. No one should ever be told you can't do X because you're <insert race here>.

No one is calling for it to be banned. You're free to say it, just expect to be judged for it.

Why people expect the ability to say whatever they want without anyone judging them I'll never understand. That's not how life has ever nor will ever work

Because it was at a concert where he invited her to come up on stage and perform one of his songs. Why is he playing songs with lyrics that he knows he's just going to chastise people for singing? That's dumb. If he had such an issue with his fans performing his lyrics then he shouldn't be using the word in his music.

Remember, your only reactions to this are support or blind anger lol. She embarrassed herself, like a lot of white people have done when they get a bit too familiar with the culture. Dave Chappelle mentions this during season 2 of his show.

So white people should stop buying albums that have the n word in them because they cant sing along?

What?

no,it's fine to listen. just don't sing along. a lot of songs have alternate versions without the n word anyway

Out of curiosity, how do you feel about white actors who say the word in a movie? I don't see what the difference is other than one person is being paid to say it. Singing a song is basically acting out a role.

singing a song is not acting out a role.

I am a professional musician. I have sang songs, including rap songs, with a band. there are many ways to avoid saying the n word, and if the singer is not black, it is their responsibility to do so.

"Black people" can be wrong about a lot of things, and telling white people to censor themselves when performing rap lyrics is one of them, especially when the person that wrote and performed those lyrics is telling people he doesn't care. The culture doesn't own him or his fans, and it's silly to think that a bunch of angry black people on the internet claim a greater amount of ownership over the word than he does.

Yeah except other rappers shit all over Q for that opinion and black people were mad as hell.

Same as Chris Rock, he stopped telling N word related jokes because people took them out of context for political reasons when they were just supposed to be gags.

Sure but it's an unpopular opinion.

Had a black friend in college (I know I know) and he let all his white friends say the word around him. The basketball team didn't like him much.

No its not. I grew up in the city and as long as it wasnt being used in a racial way people didnt care. .unless it was two Brads saying whattap n

Yes welcome to america where people are being racist and saying white people cant sing along with a song. Without being harassed.

But I'm not saying that. I'm saying you have the freedom to say whatever you want, and others are allowed to react. You want a world where no one is allowed to react based on things a person does or says. That's fucking absurd

And when others react with such a stupid shitty reaction like Lamars....he should be embarassed and shunned

Let me put it this way; if Kendrick doesn't like fans doing it then I wonder how he feels about Eminem singing along to Dr. Dre songs back in the day, n-word and everything. Maybe there's some unspoken tension there

You do know Em shares the opinion Kendrick has now right? He openly acknowledges anytime he used the n-word he was being ignorant

Right? Like people are on a crusade about it. Its in the song omg!...just dont say it. Our history gave that word too much power and the fact that many people today still use it in a derogatory way shows that youre unlikely to take that power out of it. The people who were attacked with it repurposed it for themselves. Just let them have that.

Yep. Same there. No one really gives a shit in NYC either.

Social media is nothing but about trying to get attention nowdays. When attention is the main motivator, everything becomes an issue.

It's not that people want to say it so badly, more that they don't think they should try to so hard to avoid it in some situations. I don't listen to much rap, but if you're leaving words out, you're fucking with the flow of the song. It actually does take slightly more effort to not say it. Especially if you're by yourself, then no harm done.

You think that's worse than people blowing a gasket over somebody else using the word? One word literally triggers somebody so badly that they have a meltdown over it. Can't be healthy.

give me an example

i've never heard the song in question censored, but i'm told "hitta" replaces the n word. it fits. so does ninja. pretty much everyone knows ninja is an alternative.

yes?

kendrick saying "you gotta bleep it out" is not kendrick blowing his gasket. i don't think crowd booing is either. crowds get hype off of each other.
