I thought it took place in Austria? Why aren't they speaking in an Austrian accent? This kind of reminds me of Assasin Creed Unity where it's suppose to take place in France and yet everyone is also speaking in a British accent. Is the British accent the "to go to" for anything in Europe when it comes to American entertainment?

It drives me fucking insane. I'm British and German and whenever somebody takes the "we have to think of the idiots" approach to accents I fucking snap.

Don't they kinda pull the same stunt with Roman based movies/series?

Shouldn't they be speaking German/Austrian in that case?

I watched a movie recently called The Death of Stalin where they didn't give a fuck, they just went with whatever accent the actors had. Steve Buschemi played Nikita Khrushchev and he had his usual thick NYC accent. Granted it was a comedy.

More reason for them to speak in the correct accent when the game takes place in France.

Yeah unfortunately. Any to do with Europe, you just slap a british accent on them.

True, but the play was written in English originally so translating it to Deutsch would've been difficult. But this topic is more why anything Europe related always has to have a british accent.
