Last one I properly got into was Melee. I tried Brawl but didn't bother with it because it felt like more of the same.

Smash 4 has a phenomenal roster, with incredible newcomers such as Mega Man, Ryu, and Cloud Strife. Unfortunately, it is very lackluster in its single player content (arguably even less content than Melee), so unless you have friends to play it with regularly, its roster is all it really has going for it.

It's pretty great and a lot of fun with other people to play with. Smash Bros. for Switch is going to be revealed next month. Wait until it comes out if you're looking for a new Smash Bros. to pick up.

Heh, might be a bit of a problem then because none of my friends are gamers. It'd have to be single player. Brilliant, didn't know they were going to reveal a new one, I'll keep an eye out for that!

If youre planning on playing single player, the 3DS has a slight edge over the Wii U version thanks to smash run being a fun distraction for a while. If competitive is any interest to you, there's a big Smash tournament going on in Canada right now -- 1000+ entrants over all the games. I think Wii U Grand Finals is happening at this moment, but I've been watching Melee.
