Nice. How is it going?

I'm currently trying to move to a predominately fruit and vegetable diet with smaller portions of lean meat. Nothing processed or fried. It's hard.

That's a tough one. But it helps if you have a specific financial goal and if you track how much extra you save towards that goal by not doing that.

I'm working on my comedy and writing a ton. I'm probably pouring 15 hours a week into it. Might not sound like a ton, but it consumes a lot of off-work hours.

;( Sorry to hear that. I used to have a bad habit of randomly buying and drinking soda for the pleasure of spending and drinking sugary drinks, but after a few months of quitting that cold turkey I didn't crave it anymore and enjoyed seeing the $$ pile up.

When you aren't buying soda with food or randomly, you can save tons.

Trying to improve my non-drinking social life. I have enough friends, but 95% of outings revolve around alcohol.

It's been really tough and I can't figure out how to start. I've checked Meetup and my local city events and nothing seems interesting to me.

I enjoy reading and gaming, neither of which are conducive to meeting new people.

That's tough. Have you considered starting a group in your local city? You could be the thought leader of some reading or gaming club and organize some regular meetups to build up a group. :)

Man I wish that I could quit cold turkey as well.


When I first tried it, I added a sig to my Gamefaqs account since I was using Gamefaqs every day. I'd increment the sig by 1 for each consecutive day that I was going without soda. If I drank soda, I'd reset the chain. Eventually I wanted to have a big number in the sig so I kept avoiding soda until 60+ days later I didn't even crave it anymore.

I'm working pretty hard on my overall health+wellbeing. Down 40lbs since I decided to move to a healthy diet and there is no end in sight to that as I made a lifestyle change after failing a couple fad diets previously. Got some mental/emotional health stuff I need to work on too, but it's harder to make consistent progress on that front(at least for me) since I have to put in a lot of specialized effort instead of being able to just eat less garbage.

Hobbies: specifically I'm getting back into learning Spanish. I got really into it a few years ago but stopped. It's annoying cause I know I'm at a level where if I keep pushing hard consistently I can probably get real far.

I'm trying to read more, specifically nonfiction. It's very hard for me to sit down and read a book when the internet is right there, similar to a fast food vs healthy home-cooked food, y'know?

also trying to go to the gym more. i'm not fat, I just haven't gone to the gym reguarly since last November which is pretty bad
