Not surprising tbh.

Cali has always been the golden state. It's one of the most valuable states in America, one that feeds the entire country, among other things.

The only reason the unemployment is so low is because of how they measure it. They pull every trick in the book to keep that number down, mostly by figuring out ways to not include the vast majority of unemployed people.

It is pretty much just a "recently signed up for unemployment benefits" percentage these days.

This. They literally have almost half the population homeless and on the happiness scale, if you believe in that stuff, has them at the bottom. California isn't that great unless you get out into areas like Salinas

Exactly. The unemployment percentage is just some bullshit number made up for news headlines in order to make the economy seem like it is doing a lot better than it really is.

Probably the only reason why it is so low now is because everyone has been out of work for so long that most people are no longer included.

the key words there are "In Silicon Valley"...Of course there are some super expensive cities and if you choose to live right in the middle of the most expensive and convenient cities it'll cost a lot. Now admittedly its not super cheap elsewhere, the cost of living all over the state is still incredibly high but not every city has San Francisco or Los Angeles costs.

This so much.

I don't understand why people only think California is made up of major cities. Like. . . California is a huge state. There is so much more than Los Angles and San Francisco.

Respecting air pollution, not all parts of California are heavily polluted. Again, California doesn't only consist of Los Angeles.

Some idiot listing a ridiculous price for a plot doesn't mean anything. No one is buying that unless they've got money to burn and plan to use the land to build something else.

You can still find houses for 200-500k in the less populated areas/counties.

$200k - $500k is still expensive for a house. It would be affordable to a middle-of-career middle class family.

The places where the houses actually are inexpensive aren't worth it anyway. You move to California to live near the coast.

A lot of the homeless people from other states actually migrate to California too.

Yeah, let's post karma information and ignore a news source FROM California. It's like, why do I even bother trying to educate you people. I don't even have anything against certain parts of California. I've actually been there. It's not that great until you get out of the city. Outside the city is beautiful. But it is what it is. So have fun with that great economy. Only problem is it comes with the lowest quality of living.

Which is fine but the link I posted is from California. Do you think if there was any question about how reputable the information was, that they wouldn't post information that shows they have such a low quality of life? My gut says they wouldn't make themselves look bad.

Dude I have lived in California all my life and the economy here is nowhere near as good as they are trying to make it out to be. Unemployment is much higher than they are reporting, if you include everyone they are ignoring it is actually quite staggering how bad it is right now.
