I wish he was playing at Soundset, but Atmosphere is dope too. He reminds me of a slightly less refined Aesop who trades in all that clever lyricism for crass realness. That's not to say that Aesop doesn't throw down some solid rhymes that have legitimate impact behind the words, but it certainly feels like he knows it's a production. Slug just gets on the mic and makes some genuinely choppy and pretty tepid songs but you can tell it's coming from his heart.
