These are people who probably think Michael Jackson is overrated.

I am sorta one of those people. I like the Thriller album and I enjoy MJ but eh..

and I remember listening to AAF's version and loved it. I do think its better but I don't really like many of their other songs.

Also, I hate Limp Bizkit.

I know this isn't serious, but I'm inclined to respond anyways because even within the angsty nu metal scene, I feel like you'd have to give that title to Linkin Park. They received much more play (and still do), sold far many more albums, and maintained their relevance after the death of nu metal and still had best selling albums and sold out tours all the way until Chester's suicide, which many people actually cared a lot about. Not to be a dick but if Fred Durst hung himself tomorrow I don't think there'd be many people mourning him for weeks after, holding memorials, vigils, doing shows with a bunch of other artists covering their songs, etc. And they're still going to try to continue even with Chester's suicide. Limp Bizkit has had an album stuck in development hell for like a decade now and all they have to do is the same few riffs and write things like "It's just one of those days where you don't want to wake up, everything is fucked, everybody sucks." And somehow they can't even manage to shit out an album of more of that.

They're two different styles. One style might appeal more to one person and vice versa.

It's not outright dumb like thinking FFDP's covers of Gone Away and Bad Company are better than the originals, or thinking Asking Alexandria's cover of Closer is better than the original.

You can argue their quality all you want, but they maintained popularity until his death. To the point where they're still confident enough to try to continue without him on name alone.

ATS right after New Divide did great commercially, even their dog shit last album did well. Shit even their tribute songs featuring other vocalists in Chester's place did well.

They were still one of if not the biggest mainstream rock bands in the world. Not saying anything about quality, just popularity. They were huge still when he died. They're arguably the only nu metal band band that survived as well as prospered after nu metal died. Maybe Slipknot and possibly SOAD if they hadn't stopped making music.

But ATS, directly following the single you mentioned, immediately proves you wrong.

He could've done a better job, though. I just listened to it, and I couldn't escape the feeling that, since he was just covering a smaller band's song, it seemed like he was kinda half-assing it because it was one of his less-likely songs to be a big hit, regardless of the production & quality; it certainly doesn't hold a candle to the original, at least.

This cracks me up every time. Michaels version is decisively better. Hes a better singer and dancer and his backing band delivered the song better. That punchy bass line was perfect.

The issue wasnt so much AAF covering the song, as it was them debuting themselves with a cover song that their target demographic didnt know. They never said it WAS their song, but they didnt say it WASNT theirs.

This is unfair. Sometimes AAF feels more upbeat is all.

I can't say either is better, but it's not even a top tier MJ track for me anyway.
