I spent most of my time on the Grumps playthrough trying to tune out their "jokes" so I could hear the storyline. The game seems pretty good.

Apparently it's impossible to play the game single player. The only person that maybe would have played with me is my brother but he's very busy these days and doesn't game much. Anyway I liked the Grumps on it. Their jokes were funny to me. I ended up looking ahead after yesterdays episode though and watching another Let's Play cause I couldn't wait for the ending

I'd argue that it's not asymmetrical gameplay at all, since that term usually implies a game wherein different players have radically different playstyles, not a game where two players basically play in exactly the same way, but interact with the world in minorly different ways and have to co-op their way through established puzzles.

Like, if the Leo player was in a third-person FPS while the Vincent player was in a first-person RTS map, and the actions of each player effected the gameplay of the other, that would be asymmetrical gameplay.


EDIT: Evolve is a good example of asymmetrical gameplay - a team of four "hunter" characters of similar nature versus one other player who has an entirely different and overpowered build, with the goals and strategies that apply to the hunter players being entirely different from how the monster player has to play the game. Dead by Daylight is another perfect example, as is the Friday the 13th game.

I remember when EVE Online was talking about having a collection of games that would allow for asymmetrical gameplay - pilots and administrators would play in EVE itself, but players in Dust 514 would act as ground soldiers in combat that would alter conditions in EVE, and vice-versa.

Shame that never worked out. On the other hand, I never played either game, so maybe I'm part of the problem.

Yeah, but either player CAN play basketball. Asymmetrical would be more like if you could only play basketball as Leo, while Vincent gets forced into a chess minigame that Leo can't play.

The gameplay style is more like having multiple mini-sandboxes with built-in minigames and distractions, which players can interact with or not, but since each player can interact with them, and they generally interact with them in more or less the same way.

If anything, we could refer to it as Synchronous Gameplay.

The story sucked and didn't make any sense.

If Michael from GTA needed super huge nose guy to find the drug dealer guy and kill him, wouldn't the fucking FBI not try and kill their own secret agent? Why did he need his help again? Couldn't he have just asked for the information from the start in exchange for a lenient sentence? Couldn't big nose guy just honk his nose three times and wish himself there? The whole plot twist was just tacked on and didn't make any sense.

I mean, I haven't watched a single episode of their Majora's Mask playthrough but I've yet to hear a single positive comment on that. I've only seen 3 episodes of A Way Out and I don't dislike it but maybe I'm not far enough in. Still, if they treat MM any way at all like they treated OoT then that series is probably flaming garbage for sure.
