His schedule today, day 1 where 40% of our team is gone for presidents club vacation as a reward for making their quotas (SEE: 40% is actually a historically low amount for his team)

9:30AM: Shows up.
930-11: Sits out here and shoots the shit about movies and podcasts and non-work related stuff.
11-11:15 - Actually goes to his office
11:15 - present (2:22PM) - Not in his office, nowhere to be found in the building, yet his car is here. Skype for Business still shows him as "away 3 hours," so he sure as shit isn't working.

Crazy. The cherry on top is that his boss is actually in today (he only comes in like once every few weeks), but he isn't bothering to look busy. He's just vanished.

Meanwhile my team and I are still stuck here even though A.) the literal rest of our company can work from home, B.) my entire job could be done from home anyways, and C.) I've already fucking done everything that can be done today

Sad!

The perks of a managerial position when you have a competent team.

It seems like most companies are moving back towards having people in the office, that makes me sad.

The sad thing is, despite our team's relative competence, we are a months and a half into our fiscal year and we still have no quota and very little to show for in sales. But nope, he still doesn't care, and our paychecks are suffering as a result.

Interesting, I thought the shift was going towards working at home.

What I've seen as a manager in a tech F50 is that internal and external customers want at least their development team to be at the physical location for the agile processes like stand-ups.

All remote workers are having their charge numbers closely scrutinized and when it is found that they are supporting a specific location around 60% of the time, those people are being told to relocate or vacate.

I guess it all depends. I mean, in my case, I'm an account manager, and I really don't have more than 2-3 calls to make on a daily basis. There isn't that much upselling to do, and our product pretty much runs itself once installed, so there's very little troubleshooting. A majority of the work is just database work / sale processing, which could easily be done from the comfort of one's home.

I'd rather have my number scrutinized because then our boss might fucking see that our entire team is suffering, as opposed to just turning a blind eye and (probably) going out for job interviews during the day.

I kind of mentioned this a while ago, but my company is starting to fall apart, and it is kind of hilarious.

1) We had a contractor who didn't get his contract renewed, and we were told we wouldn't be able to replace him.
2) My manager told his boss that it was killing team moral, he ignored it.
3) A week later, the lead on the project I am currently on quits.
4) As a result, my project is now without leadership.
4) Desperate to try and "quell worries", the boss from #2 comes to our office and tell people "please don't leave, I can't get approvals for replacements".
5) That same day, my manager quits.
6) Now, as a result, I essentially don't have a manager until at least September. So I am without leadership or a boss.

The cherry on top: I am interviewing for a position in the company that my (former) manager is going to next week. If I get it I can see a ton of people leaving as well. We would essentially be down to half capacity and the project I am on would only have 2 people on it.

No, it is a major company, but the branch of it we work in is the one falling apart. The company as a whole is actually doing decent.

Honestly it is kind of a weird situation because the product I work on is making the company tons of money so I know they won't get rid of us, but since the rest of the division is in the shitter things are going down hill. Like my division got a million dollars to do investigation work (with the idea that we would get a ton more down the line once the investigation yields results) but the office we are in is doing so much cost cutting to stay afloat that they stopped allowing us to have trash cans at our desks to save on janitorial costs.
