I've never heard any other female in my whole life say most men are ugly. Must be a vastly different group of women that are saying this. Maybe the high maintenance kind?

I know plenty of guys who fall into most of those categories but a lot of women are attracted to them.

It could easily be the case that online dating is more likely to be disproportionately used by less attractive men, and unrealistic stuck up judgy bitches. And as far as I can tell, sites like OkCupid that have released this kind of data don't have a lot of insight into what the data means.

Without that extra piece of the puzzle we just have a graph saying women on these sites rate most men as below average attractiveness.

I know plenty of guys who fall into most of those categories but a lot of women are attracted to them.

Of course it is subjective, it is her personal opinion. I agree, I too know a lot of shallow women attracted to shallow men and vice versa. I guess it is good they have each other I suppose.

I think we all have first impressions of people based upon looks but personality can greatly change those perceptions. I still can't imagine most girls thinking a lot of men are ugly. Maybe a few do but if they are that hung up on looks they probably ones to steer clear of and I am sure there are men who are exactly the same as these women. I can't imagine being with someone so hung up on something as fleeting as beauty.

women can't also reasonably judge their own looks in the mirror with the amount of hair and make up involved

Based on the women I've talked to about this stuff, this seems pretty accurate. I mean, being good looking and having a likeable personality will beat somebody who only has one or the other, and that goes without saying. It's ironic that being handsome to any extent can work against you too, because people may assume you're those bad things and just avoid you.... Another thing that seems somewhat accurate is to state "girls want cool guys but women want good guys."

I never had anything special with the women who liked me for how I looked, but ones who get to know me tend to like me. It's pretty awkward given that I'm married and being a cheater is not in my nature. They're almost all respectful, but sometimes you can just tell.

This is subjective to personal opinion. For example I find the "classically beautiful" guys to be hideous. Even if there existed a reliable statistic of your question it wouldn't do anybody any justice because they're not dealing with the overall percentage of those surveyed. You have a higher chance of getting the opinion from a woman who was outside of said hypothetical survey than you would meeting one from within the survey that agreed that most men are unattractive. There's no cut-clean percentage on personal opinions, so stop trying.

However if there was ever such a statistic then I would advise them to add in a "bitch factor" to aid in ruling out the biased results from assholes within the group.

Kind of. I find women attractive far more often than I find men attractive. Women tend to have interesting personal styles and nice shapes. Men tend to be generic, boring, and forgettable after one glance. Men's clothing and styles are mostly boring.

I also find most of the big Hollywood male hotties entirely undesirable.

But what I do find attractive is a huge range. From big fat hairy men to muscular men to skinny nerds to beautiful feminine men. There's just a je ne sais quoi that makes a man attractive. It's a force of personality that really interests me.

A man can have a brief encounter. A woman, since no birth control is 100% effective, has to consider a lifetime commitment: would I want his child, to carry for 9 months, raise for 18 years, and continue to have some responsibility for the rest of my life?

Well beauty standards also change to reflect fashions, health awareness and social standards too. Pale, tan, hourglass, thin, hulked out, super busty, athletically lean.

Like, I like thin guys, normal guys and am very okay with guys who are... hefty. But muscular guys who have an ass so hard, you could presumably break your hand giving them a playful smack and biceps bigger then their heads? No thanks. Not my thing. But my aunts liked that kinda thing and married men who lifted weights and my aunts themselves followed the fashion of being tanned, well dressed and had teased blonde hair. Nm one of em is a natural brunette.

Personality is of course the clinching factor, doesn't matter how good looking, bad looking or average looking, if your a major douche.

They're just asking about a general sense of attractiveness in the eyes of most women, if you choose to interpret that as women using the looks of guys to determine common sense (somehow) so that their lives aren't ruined, and then proceed to use that as an excuse to go on a rant -- that's your problem, please don't make it ours.

funny video aside, you can tell biologically that women reproduce successfully at twice the rate of men. so, as women's reproductive rate approaches 100%, men's only approaches 50%.

thinking about it, though, it would still be a leap to say that that is necessarily because women are picky. I think it could even just as easily be because men are picky. also men's chance of early death being astronomically higher probably has a lot to do with it as well.
