The news just spent 10 minutes talking about how horrible it is that the bride's dad took some pics or something and now he can't come to the wedding because he betrayed the Queen's trust. How is this news?

The previous royal wedding made sense to get media attention, as at least that was involving multiple future heads of state (future Kings William and George, maybe Queen Charlotte or King Louis in the event of premature deaths of their elder siblings) for a major ally of the United States.

This one, though? A shitload of people would have to die for that to be the case for Harry or their hypothetical future kids, so it's really just pretty pretty princess dumb shit.

Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less.

does any of this matter tho? I thought the royal family held only ceremonial power, like signing off on elections (but they always do it and if they didn't nobody would actually nullify the election)

Still from a ceremonial sense it matters, plus from a future tourist perspective for Americans traveling abroad. Mostly powerless, but they will still be fairly influential political and philanthropic figures in their own way.

I kinda wonder that. Certainly nobody in America care. The media tried to make Chelsea Clinton's wedding a big deal and nobody seemed to give af.
