name recognition and a fairly niche market

although I should point out they have a stellar warranty. if something breaks, you just give it to the guy on the truck and you'll get a new one

Snap-On also has a cheaper line of tools under the Williams brand made in their Asian factories. In theory they're held to a lesser standard, but in practice they're virtually identical. I have a socket wrench set from them and love it.
